The Seeb Directorate, which was created in 1984 in response to a sustained wave of urban development in the area, owed its beginnings to a unit for environmental health services, which was later upgraded to a Branch Office. Because of its predominantly agricultural characters, the area contains many old houses in additional to modern developments. For administrative convenience the Seeb Directorate is divided into four regions:
Region 1 : from Al Khod Roundabout to Seeb Palace Roundabout and thence to Bait Al Baraka Roundabout up to the Boundary of Baraka Municipality and extending northwards to the coast. Its major districts are :
Wadi Al Lawami, Wadi Al Arsh, Sur Al Hadid, Al Sharadi and Mabella North.
Region 2 : from Al Khod Roundabout to Seeb Palace Roundabout to the boundary of Wilayat of Barka, and including the districts of Hilat Al Nasr, Mabella South and the Industrial Area.
Region 3 : from Al Mawaleh Roundabout north to Al Khod Roundabout, thence to Wadi Al Lawami Roundabout and including the districts of Al Mawaleh North and Hail Al Awamir.
Region 4 : from the boundary with Bausher Municipality to the Airport Roundabout, Al Sahwa Tower Roundabout, Al Mawaleh Roundabout to Al Khod Roundabout. It includes the districts of Old and New Al Khod, Social Housing Complexes, Al Mawaleh South, Al Hail South and Height, the Airport, the University Campus and Rusayl Industrial Estate.
