MM Employee Services
Established in the 1920s, Muscat Municipality is a government body responsible for providing quality services to almost a million citizens and expatriates living in the Muscat region. It is a large organization with more than 6700 employees in multiple directorates, departments, and divisions. With the provision of diverse customer-centric services, Muscat Municipality leads in the use of information technology to pioneer various electronic services (e-Services) to enable its operations. While striving to provide quality services to the customers, Muscat Municipality also embraces technology to better serve its staff. One of the initiatives adopted is the Employee Self Service (ESS), a web-based application that provides employees with access to their personal records and their payroll details. In the near future, it will also allow employees to apply for leave and have that application directed to the employee’s manager for consideration.
As not all the employees of MM have access to the internet, part of the service is extended to mobile devices via the Short Messaging System (SMS).
