  • THE Sultanate of Oman, represented by Muscat Municipality, achieved the award for the best public practices and services provider in the world, in a competition organized early in 2002 by the UN department of Economic and Social Affairs
  • Muscat Municipality won first prize in the competition of innovative organization in the Arab World, in the category of public works and services, through its distinguished experience in public hygiene. This award is one of three most important categories of the competition, founded by THE Arab Organization for administrative Management.
  • Muscat Municipality achieved three significant awards in the fifth round of the Arab Cities Organization Award in 1994. Muscat Municipality achieved first prize foe the municipality ` s head office building in the category of architecture, first prize for city beautification and the second prize in greenery and trees.
  • Muscat Municipality was awarded the second place in the competition of environmental awareness organized by the Organization Arab Cities for 1996.
  • In 1997, Sohar achieved the City Beautification Award in the 6th round of the Organization of Arab Cities (Golden shield and a certificate of appreciation.
  • The first prize awarding statement in the category of architecture, awarded in the February 1986 to the building of the ministry of Foreign Affairs.
