Transportation in Muscat Governorate

Means of transportation in Muscat Governorate is easy & available , it provides different types of services to the customers regarding fees , number or routes , the main significant types of means of transportation are :.

Taxi car (Saloon type)

This means of transportation is characterized by its distinct two colors , the white & the Orange colors , it can moves freely in all different areas of Muscat Governorate . Smoking is prohibited during the trip . To regulates the work of these type of transportation means Muscat Municipality issued the Local Ordinance NO. (13/69) .It also issued the Tariff specifying the fees given on consideration of the service according to the areas. This Tariff is not fixed , it is reviewed periodically to comply with the development and expansion witnessed by Muscat Municipality . The last Tariff was approved by the Municipal Council in 1997 by virtue of decision NO. (25/79) .

Micro bus ( Means of transportation)

These Micro buses are characterized by their distinct white color , its job is confined to provide services in the main roads only and according to certain routes , it is not allowed to inter inside the residential areas to avoid crowding with the Taxi routes .

National Transport Coaches :.

It is characteristic by its three distinct colors , the red, the green & the white color , it belongs to Oman National Transport CO. Its service is limited to collective transport having special route and bus stations .

Muscat International Airport Taxi :.

This type of Taxi have similar colors of the small taxi , its activity is limited to transportation of passengers from the air port to their desired destinations in the Sultanate , these Taxi practiced its activities according to the special permits providing this advantage to differentiate it from other Taxis , these Taxis activities is regulated by the Local ordinance NO ( 43/79) . For improving the taxis services , the meter system was introduced in 1997 . The Tariff of airport Taxi is limited in Muscat Governorate and applied as follows :.

Taxi under call (Limousine )

These cars have no distinct color , each company practices this activity has its own united cars color . .These cars are distinguished by it 24 hours services ( on request & prior reserving ) its mainly provide services to departures & arrivals to & fro the airport .
