Muscat
Muscat city is located in the north-eastern part of the Sultanate of Oman and extends between the two parallels of latitude 23.30- 23-45 north, and between the meridians 58 °-59 east. Thus the Tropic of Cancer crosses it. Muscat overlooks the Gulf of Oman with a coast of 200 km length; it has a population of 635.279 people. Muscat is strategically important for it is one of the most prominent international ports in terms of location. The area of the city is about 35000 km2. The Governorate consists of six wilayats (districts): Muscat, Muttrah, Bowshar, A’Seeb, Al Amerat and Quriyat. They are supervised by Muscat Municipality through five general directorates (Greater Mutrah, Bowshar, A’Seeb, Al Amerat and Quriyat.)
