Labeling :.

This system is introduced & applied in Muscat Governorate to enable the citizens & the guests to know their destinations locations and to enable the concerns in connection of services easily moreover this will also facilitate the process of the future planning for rendering all the required services , beside consolidated the emergency services such as First Aids and help in distribution of post mails to the residents at their work places & homes .

Recently all main Roads, Streets ,Ways , Lanes ,commercial & residential Blocks are labeled in Muscat governorate , it is now very easy to find out any location to commercial shop or house through this labeling process .

Definition of the terminology :.

The Block :

It is group of houses & commercial shops located on the main roads .

The Road :.

It is road that passes through more than one area or city , it has a name such as Nizwa Road ,AL Amrat Road Qantib Road Ect…..

The Street :

I t separates two or more Blocks or passes through important commercial area , such streets have names such as Sultan Qaboos Street ,AL Nahdha Street , AL Fursan Street &Ruwi Street .

The Way

It is small road splits from Street to pass through Block ,it has special number ,such as Way NO. 301 , 302 &. 303 . .

The Lane :

It is a narrow zigzagging road , it has special number such as Lane NO. 305 or Lane NO. 306 .

The Municipality is responsible for this labeling , supervising & providing the following services :.
  • Installation of the labeling & numbering plates of roads, St. Ways & Lanes .
  • Labeling of the buildings with all of its uses .
Preparation & installation of labeling plates along with the required maintenance .
