The Presidency of the Muscat Municipality is the champion of the football tournament, with Seeb coming in second

The “Presidency of the Muscat Municipality” team was crowned champion of the Muscat Municipality’s football tournament as a result of its merits and worth, scoring more points than all the other teams, while the General Directorate of the Muscat Municipality’s team in Seeb took second place and the ……..team took third. This came during the closing ceremony of the tournament which was held on Sunday night at the Bayt Falaj field in Rawi under the patronage of Khalid Bin Muhammad Bihram, Services Assistant to the president of the Muscat Municipality.
The tournament consisted of 36 games between 9 teams from different directorates and administrations of the Muscat Municipality over the course of 9 consecutive weeks. The nine teams were: the Presidency, the General Directorate for technical affairs, the General Directorate for Forestry and Parks, and municipal directorates including: Seeb, Matrah, Bawshar, Amirat, Quriyat, and the Mawalih Market Administration.
The Presidency team secured its victory in the tournament for the ninth time. In all, there were 260 goals made during 1,260 minutes of play. The sponsor of the event then presented the tournament cup to the victor and medals to the top three teams.
Well organized and bridges of friendship
On the occasion of the conclusion of the summer football season for employees of the Muscat Municipality, Khalid Bin Muhammad Bihram, Services Assistant to the president of the Muscat Municipality and sponsor of the event stated: “The municipality has begun to undertake a number of recreational and athletic activities for workers from all different positions to impress upon them the importance of convening together outside official hours to build bridges of friendship, to foster feelings of inclusion and to encourage giving and cooperation amongst them.”
He added, “The municipality organized this football tournament for its employees in the midst of a prevailing competitive spirit and participation between units, directorates, and administrations of the municipality. The occasion is crowned with utter success in terms of organization and performance by participants, technicians, and the administration. We wish to express our sincerest thanks to all who contributed to the preparation and organization of this tournament and pulling it off so impressively. You’ve made us and those who followed the event extremely happy, while we wish at the same time for even wider participation in the coming years and for the Muscat Municipality’s football league to maintain a forefront position among Oman’s athletic institutions.
9 teams in a one-round system
During the close of the tournament, Muhammad Abdullah Al Mahrougi, Chairman of the Athletics Committee at the Muscat Municipality, stated that the season aimed to create an environment of harmony and a spirit of friendly competition between municipality employees. Nine teams participated in the tournament, each entering for the sake of competition and advancing as far as possible. Team preparation intensified both technically and physically so that all teams had the same understanding of the tournament’s importance, where each team played according to the one-round system managed by referees from the Omani Football Union.
At the end of his speech, Muhammad Al Mahrougi directed a special thanks to all the officials and organizers from the Muscat Municipality for their cooperation and industriousness. He also expressed his gratitude to the leadership of the Omani Armed Forces for their support and help in hosting the tournament at the Bayt Falaj field.
