Muscat Municipality Carries Out An Extensive Campaign Al-Hammam District In Bawcher
The Public Cooperation Highlights The Extent Of Interest In The Development Of The Area And Develops The Sense Of Responsibility

The Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Bawcher on last Thursday carried out an intensive campaign for public sanitation and a service labor camp in Al-Hammam district in Bawcher. The district competes to participate in the annual contest for the cleanest and healthiest district in Muscat 2012.
Around 100 people, representing civil and sports teams in Bawcher partook in the contest, beside the municipality workers of the departments of sanitation and health affairs and the technical divisions, too. Work was regularly divided and distributed to several work teams. It has been running from early morning till the evening.
Technical Services
The municipality implements a group of service, technical and developing projects within the district; some of the most important are: re-paving internal roads, paving and tiling dusty squares, tiling the corridors using interlock tiles and painting the old houses and building façades and farm walls, in addition to setting up a protection wall of gravel and cement with a length of 300 m to expand the street and protect vehicles passing to the current asphalted street crossing farms, removal and reconstruction of an old about-to-fall structure (440 m long) of one of the farms, installation of lighting in the district, and construction of a new street passing next to the cemetery wall up to Al-Hilla Al-Elwyyah to facilitate the arrival of people to the district at the valleys runoff. It also includes maintenance of houses, walls of farms, water streams and coverage of some tracks with concrete covers of 300 m long. The work also includes re-establishment of the old council (As-Sabala) and rehabilitation and settlement of football pitch, of Al-Hammam Team. The projects also include establishing an Eid prayer square in the district through building up a wall of 1 m high using fixed materials, the leveling of the site using small gravel, paving the parks, tiling some of the side spaces, and maintaining washing and bathing premises.
Establishment Of A Park
A park will be established in the district by building up a wall, 80 cm high, of fixed materials from all directions, surmounted by a steel barrier of 75 cm high, and installing an iron gate to the entrance. Also, red interlocked tiled corridors and a children`s playground will be set up, in addition to installing two shelters fro resting, installing lighting posts, paving parks, as well as adding aesthetic touches, performing landscaping and gardening, and fixing seats.
Cleanliness And Awareness
The campaign program also includes sweeping and cleaning the alleys and districts, removing the wastes and deformities out of the valleys and corridors, and implementing a public cleaning campaign for sweeping the streets, as well as trimming the trees, cleaning water springs, basins and water streams, beside insect and rodent control, maintenance of the containers and fixing trash baskets. It aims at educating people and disseminating leaflets and brochures to homes and at informing people about the healthy ways of getting rid of household waste as well as guiding them to cooperate with the municipality agencies about the cleanliness of the area and adding the aesthetic touches to their facilities. The program improves awareness about the negative health damages of raising livestock within and next to the houses, and setting up a tent for awareness and cultural events in the district.
The Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Bawcher is consistently accustomed to organizing such campaigns to highlight the cooperation and participation of young people and inhabitants in the service of their districts, care to public utilities and maintenance of safe and healthy surrounding environment. It is worth mentioning that achievements have been conducted in the competition during the past two years. Bawcher Beni Omran district came first during the last year while the healthy Qalhat district won the prize of the healthiest district jointly with Al-Khoud Al-Belad district in Al-Seeb in year before the past year. The Directorates of Muscat Municipality are witnessing this year very active contesting in the development of their health districts.
