The specialists in Al-Mawaleh Central Market Management have intensified their health inspection campaigns on products coming to the market during the past four months, May, June, July and August). The quantities that have entered the market are estimated by about 100.076 tons of imported vegetables and fruit only.
During that period, 18.743 visitations were paid to different commercial facilities in the market as well as the main selling store while 178 violation notices and 141 destruction notices were issued.
Destruction Of 615 Tons
These campaigns resulted in destroying large quantities of vegetables and fruit, estimated by 615 tons in total; most notably the destruction of large amounts of oranges estimated by 369 tons due to the apparent decomposition, because of poor storage and end of the season. Also large quantities of potatoes, estimated by 100 tons, were destroyed due to the apparent mold because of poor storage. Besides, There are other amounts of lettuce estimated by 27 tons, mangoes by 23 tons, melons by 14 tons, grapes by 13 tons and zucchini by 10 tons.
