The Muscat Municipality carries out its plan to provide lighting to residential neighborhoods
The lighting administration from the Muscat Municipality will carry out intensive and continuous work on its strategic plan to light the capitol, Muscat, along the longest independent and unlit roads in all provinces of the Muscat Governorate according to schedule.
The lighting administration from the General Directorate of Technical Affairs of the municipality is exerting clear and deliberate efforts to make this plan a practical reality through work teams overseeing the administration of it and providing the necessary equipment and machinery including light posts, lamps, cables, and other materials to ensure that all work goes according to schedule.
35,750 light posts
The lighting administration installed recently 36,250 light posts of different heights in residential neighborhoods throughout the Muscat Governorate’s regions and provinces. The longest route that has been equipped with lighting in the past three years was 1,480 kilometers long. The field teams are working to cover and install the light posts and necessary electrical extensions at a rate of 16 km per week. Lighting work has been completed in the provinces of Bawshar and Seeb and the remaining roads will be finished in the coming period. There are also roads that have already been equipped with light posts but are still waiting to be connected to electricity in coordination with concerned bodies.

Finally, the fifth region of Amirat province, the Hajir, Sareen, and Seeh Dhabi regions, and inner neighborhoods in Wadi Kabir were lit at different lengths. According to the plan to provide lighting to residential neighborhoods and independent routes, the municipality has made good progress in the Bawshar and Seeb provinces, particularly in their inner roads. In the coming period, focus will be placed on lighting other residential neighborhoods as well as other parts of the governorate’s provinces so that the capitol will appear as a glistening beacon to its citizens and all who visit it.
