A series of awareness activities and field visits over two weeks
The Muscat Municipality concludes the events of the Arab City Day forum.
The Awareness and Guidance Administration from the Muscat Municipality concluded recently the events of the sixth forum held in celebration of the Arab City Day, which takes place on 15 March each year. It featured a series of programs, activities, and campaigns over the course of two weeks.
The closing ceremony, held on the Muscat College stage, was sponsored by Dr. Ibrahim Al Rahbi, General Director of the General Directorate of the Muscat Municipality in Seeb. In attendance were a number of officials and specialists from the municipality with the participation of several government and private bodies.

The closing ceremony was begun by reciting from the Quran, followed by a word from the Awareness and Guidance Administration. After that was the screening of a documentary film about the events organized by the Awareness and Guidance office and the presentation of two performances and paintings inspired by the beauty of the environment. Participants took a stroll through the corridors of the venue where the ceremony took place, after which the sponsor handed out certificates and gifts to participants and organizers.
Awareness events
The prefect of Bawshar’s office organized an environmental seminar with the participation of several governmental bodies that targeted different segments of society, especially school and university students. The main talking points of the seminar included ways to dispose of household garbage and waste, the three-point concept of recycling and its relation to the waste management’s plan, and ways of using modern equipment to collect and dispose of waste.
Awareness visits, lectures, and activities were held over the course of three days for housewives in the Ghala region of Bawshar about the importance of conserving the environment in the community and how to limit environmental pollution. The campaign also included the organization of informative lectures and lessons about the role of students in preserving public property and the environment both in and out of school. The lectures also gave an explanation of the role of the municipality toward citizens and the services it provides them, how to keep household waste out of the environment, and clean solutions to correct such pollution. Exhibitions and lectures were held at schools and public clean-up campaigns in residential neighborhoods.

Several governmental and private bodies participated in the events. The Muscat Municipality extends special appreciation to: the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Higher Education, Sultan Qabus University, the Environmental Society of Oman, the Omani Environmental Services Holding Company, the Omani Scouts, the College of Design, the Environmental and Occupational Health Department, the Maarifa Oasis, Muscat College, Ghalla Youth, the Imam Al Mihna Bin Sultan Public Primary School, the Azeba Basic Education School, the Khuweir Public School, Shojaa Bin Wahab School, Sheikh Nahyan Al Kharousi School, Hazim Bin Hamam School, Assim Bin Omar School, Shati’ Qaram School, Doha Literature School, Arwa Bint Abdel Matlab School, Fayyid Maarifa School, Tharya Al Bou Saidi School, Shamsaa Al Khalili School, and the Bawshar Basic Education School for their active participation in the success of the events.
