Muscat municipality continue to carry out the campaign of "our environment, is our home" in Seeb
The general directorate of Muscat municipality in Seeb continue to carry out the campaign of " our environment, our environment" which has sett off earlier this year. It aims at cleaning up the sites from bush, agricultural distortions, construction wastes and the other impurities harmful to the environment at the center of the urban neighborhood and valley paths in all regions of the state of Seeb.
The spread of these impurities and distortions serve as an obsession due to their health risks for individuals and the surrounding environment. It also leads to the proliferation of insects, rodents and the overflow of odors especially in the summer as well as the spread of construction wastes, solid wastes, plastic contents, woods, glass and others in these areas are akin to burn and the emission of the polluting gases.
Rodent control
The department of pest control directorate also plays a continuous role in eliminating of rodents and reptiles in various locations in Seeb, distributing awareness leaflets, indicative pamphlets for people and an expanded campaign for mosquito control as apart of the efforts to provide a healthy environment through the mosquito control and reducing their breeding and spread.
Slums
In connection with this, the directorate pursues the expats who exploit the old plantations for non-authorized housing and building slums in the state as the directorate continues its intensified campaign for addressing this illegal phenomenon, which are usually aimed at renting these slums for the expats; which affects the social, health and security aspects in the state.
Muscat municipality exerts continuous efforts for addressing the random tenures and the illegal slums as there are licenses issued by the municipality for these slums in the houses to serve the residents in these houses. There are composed of sitting rooms, kitchens and bedrooms and they are not permitted to use for renting, especially for expats due to the social, security and planning disadvantage and the seriousness of the existence of such expats in residential areas.
Muscat municipality calls upon all citizens and residents in this aspect not to dwell the expats in the residential areas because of incompatibility with Article No. (116) of the local order No. (23/ 92) on organizing buildings in Muscat, as it was stipulated hat "the establishment of the local is not authorized unless in the places planned by the country and allocated for this purpose with the conditions prescribed by the municipality and the small camps established for labors only in worksite and not for any workers is excluded from this article, provided a prior approval from the municipality and to be constructed and destructed with the conditions and specifications set by the municipality".
