Tomorrow … Shehhi sponsors the second international conference of Muscat municipality in waste management

HE Ahmed ben Abdalla Al-shehhi, minister of regional municipalities and water resources, on Monday morning, sponsors the second international conference of Muscat municipality in waste management until 26 of this month in Oman hall in the hotel of Kasr El-bostan in collaboration with Fleming gulf Inc. and Tiger exhibitions Inc. with the participation of more than 100 of the concerned and the specialists in the field of waste management and recycling from inside and outside the sultanate. Six workshops will be set in the same field with the presence of national representatives from the ministries: environment and climate affairs, trade and industry, regional municipalities and water resources, Sultan Qaboos university, Omani holding company for environmental services (environment), environment society of Oman and experts from Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) who represent: Abu Dhabi health authority, Saudi environment society, Arab network for environment and development, UNESCO office in Doha, ESCWA organization and the Egyptian environmental affairs agency as well as ministry officials, private sector representatives and delegations at the regional and global levels from various industry sectors.
The conference sessions include the waste management, the modern used technology, sustainability strategies in that field as well as approaching the issues related to the dangerous wastes. Work sheets from the various participant countries will be presented. The conference is regarded as an opportunity in Muscat municipality for making partnerships, exchange of experiences among the stakeholders and competent agencies in waste managing at the international level and the possible benefit from all the modern means in that field. The allocation of (environment), an Omani company, specialized in managing and recycling wastes is regarded as a clear indication of the intent of the sultanate and the regional countries for benefitting from the wastes and as an another way to mitigate their effects.
The conference is supported by leading international organizations as ISEO, ICEC and CIWEM as well as the support provided by leading companies in the field of managing wastes in Gulf Cooperation Council as the Madinat El-khalig Cleaning Inc. (Bahrain), (Oman) environment Inc. and Al-ahliah (Sharikah) Inc.
