Muscat municipality is the first municipality to implement the campaign of " Waai"

Muscat Municipality has won the first place in the field of management and implementation the campaign of information awareness for government authorities, "Waai", within a number twelve authorities which have played an important role in enriching the campaign . The campaign has targeted 1500 employees and specialists from different units and directorates subjected to Muscat municipality.
National center for computer security, recently, has honored the computer security ambassadors participating in the campaign. Within the framework of their efforts exerted in succeeding the campaign and their permanent keenness in the continuity of raising awareness of the information safety .
Most important preparations
Muscat municipality has made many preparations before the start of the campaign, including: constituting a committee for preparation and supervision for the regulation of this campaign for the sake of assuring the achievement of the objectives of the campaign, nominating a number of information system employees for joining in training courses (as trainers) in cooperation with the national center for computer security and specifying a page for the campaign on the website of municipality that will include everything related to the campaign of information, news, photos, videos, etc .
Phases
The campaign has been implemented in three different phases, permeated by holding forums and workshops in the first phase. In the second phase, the emphasis was placed on a number of the security main issues as computer virus, passwords, e-mail security, internet safe use, personal computer security and reporting the information security incidents by using different awareness means which were chosen based on rules selected in cooperation between Muscat municipality and the national center for computer safety.
In the second phase, the extent of the effectiveness of the campaign as well as the evaluation of awareness level of the information security for Muscat municipality employees has been measured by the information technology authority , represented by the information safety center, which provides identifying the security aspects that shall be focused as well as the knowing the developments in the field of information security and security hazards.
