Muscat Municipality continue its extensive efforts in handling the climatic adversity which the country has suffered from within the last days due to the weather fluctuations and the valleys and reefs runoff in almost of the Muscat Wilayats. There were various technical teams in the Municipality into the affected areas to remedy the situation urgently and providing immediate and direct solutions, removing the valleys debris, doings their best for opening the affected streets in both Amrat and Quriyat Wilayats for ensuring the mobility and flow of traffic in front of the vehicles. From its side, Muscat Municipality proceeds the implementation of Surface water drainage strategy and treatment the weather damages because they are lower than the level of the sea, the contrast of its way levels, large number of valleys, aquifers in which these regions and its neighbors are exposed by, and the lack of a water drainage systems there .
An Integrated Study for the City

Muscat Municipality has prepared a global and integrated study project for rainwater drainage in Muscat and it has been assigned to a specialized consultative company. The study has included gathering the available information and the data about paths and size of the valleys and the amount of flow water and conduct a survey of the current drainage system so as to prepare a master plan for the governorate needs including the means of surface water drainage in the governorate.
This study is considered as a reference material which provides help for creating sustainable solutions to the problems of drainage and valleys in the region and determining the paths of the valleys and the efficiency of the current drainage means. It also pave the way for the detailed studies on stage basis in which it includes all the areas of the governorate and it will be implemented according to the priority related to the need of the governorate.

The project includes a detailed survey for the region and drainage network of surface water and making a hydrologic model to know the movement of water in the region, and then find executive solutions suitable for disposal of.
Muscat Municipality seeks for the completion of detailed survey series in light of the master study so as to be able to take the suitable solutions required for protecting the City, its residents and its facilities from the risk of floods .
Modern Channels for Surface Drainage

Along with the works related to the construction project of bridges and the intersection of Wadi Adai, the implementation of rainwater drainage works are in progress which represented in empty vessel containing two units extending from the beginning of Al-Nahda Hospital up to Wadi Adai stream (with a long up to 1200m) and with (2x4) dimensions for each unit, then determining the waterway in the sidewalls up to the existing waterway which begins from Wadi Adai Dawar up to the empty vessels intersecting with the general street which is nearer to Honda Auto Agency as well as expanding the narrow places in the waterway. It is also planned for extending the empty vessels which intersect the General Street in front of Honda Agency and the Service Street with a size from (8m) up to (48m). Also, The Municipality is currently preparing for third channel construction for water drainage in which it would pass behind Al-Nahda Hospital and the Directorate-General for Transport reaching up to Wadi Adai.
There is a hydrological and planning study covering Hamriyah and Roy regions taking into consideration disposal valleys and reefs drainage and region reorganizing and rehabilitation as well as disposing the surface rainwater for providing effective solutions for the recurring problems which are a result of valleys and reefs flow effects into the region. All the modern paved ways will have channels and systems for rainwater drainage which are featured with high water flow and prevent aquifers and puddles of water on the way.
Technical Teams for Damage Treatment

During the last climate condition, the field teams have deployed into the Muscat City for removing dust and debris which have been cumulated into the streets and siphoning off aquifers, ponds and blockages in the lines and systems of water drainage networks on the main and sub-ways which are a result of rainfall and valleys flows. Amerat and Quriyat Wilayats have been provided with heavy machinery and equipment for working with quick efforts so as to restore the affected services back to normal. The Field and Technical teams have begun in cleaning the residential districts to be free of sediment, mud, the remnants of trees and watersheds .
