Muscat municipality damages a number of 500 meals of the school students and closes a number of 36 shops

In the context of the intensified health campaigns upon the food establishments and the shops related the public health, Muscat municipality damaged a number of 500 ready meals of the public school students in Muttrah state , closed a number of 36 shops(36) and edited a number of 61 violations through 1078 visitations that targeted the different states of Muscat . A number of violations for the adopted health requirements were observed . They varied from expiry, wrong maintenance and being unfit for human consumption .
The competent damaged foodstuffs unfit for human consumption and they reached (253) kg, 17 cosmetic tools ) and a number of 2037 tools unfit for use .
Citrus market
In the central citrus market, the number of visitations reached 994 that resulted in damaging a number of 49486 kg of rot and virtually wilt fruits and vegetables as well as a number of 40 expired cartoons of fruit juice .
Muttrah Campaigns
The department of health affairs in the general directorate of Muscat municipality in great Muttrah lately carried out a number of visitations by the competent in inspection and food control sections for the cafes which make meals ready meals for the public school students in the early morning and another campaigns upon the restaurants , meat selling shops and the other activities related to the health food .
These visitations resulted in editing a number of (125) healthy violations and releasing a number of (40) ) food destruction certificates which were unfit for human consumption and led to damaging the following foods : (240) kg of meat, (500) meals of public school students, (355) kg of cooked food, (1215 of different food trays , (573) of soft drinks trays and closing a number of (11shops) ) .
Among the targets of the inspection campaign is the direct focus upon the consumer commercial complexes for promoting the health of the commercial foundations, ensuring the validity of the exhibited foods, monitoring the storage of foods and confirming the right disposal of the premeditated food until they are not provided for clients in the next day. They focused on meat selling shops for ensuring the application of conservation and storage methods and the commitment to the health requirements in order to preserve the consumer health and safety .
Bosher catches illegal activities
General directorate of Muscat municipality in Bosher caught a number of expats who do illegal unlicensed activities inside houses in cooperation with the competent public authorities. The directorate carried out a health and technical campaign that included a number of houses in Alkhuwair region (It is a region that includes a big number of the expats who reached 2/17 who do illegal commercial activities inside these houses, like preparing and selling meals and foods and clothes laundry violating the local No. 1/ 2006 related to the protection of the public health , the buildings act as well as what is resulted by those expats of the disturbance for the families dwelling in this region. The campaign confiscated all food , the tools used in preparation of food and clothes laundry and transmitted the violators to the prosecution for taking the legal procedures, as the amount of seizures reached (1325) kg of food and meat as well as (194 of cooking utensils and laundry tools ) .

In terms of the public health of the consumer , providing the best services and in accordance with the approach that contributes in promoting the level of these services provided for the consumer and for the completion of the awareness and guidance task for promoting the health level of the food establishments and ensuring the provision of the health foods for the consumers by Muscat municipality food control devices in the municipality ,represented in the inspection and food control departments in the general directorates of Muscat municipality in ) Great Muttrah, Siib, Bosher, Amerat and Qurayat) in addition to the central citrus market and the two health inspection offices in each of Muscat international airport and Sultan Qaboos port carry out many tasks the most important of which is inspecting and controlling the different food establishments as restaurants, cafes, factories, hotels, stores, supermarkets, vegetables shops and others, starting from the first phases of production and manufacturing until exhibiting and selling these products and their access to the users , healthy and secure. The visitations are centered starting from the first visitation of the leases passing by carrying out the rules of the health requirements, controlling the quality of raw materials included in manufacturing, being free from pollutants , ensuring that they are conserved rightly with proper temperatures according to the type of food as well as ensuring the methods of dissolving the ice from the frozen materials rightly. They also make sure of cooking the food in a high temperature for eliminating microbes and control the methods of conserving the cooked food in devices specified for this purpose for ensuring their provision for the consumer healthy and securely, free from any pollutants.
Municipality continues its intensified campaigns for fighting the illegal activities which affect the social, health and security aspects in Muscat states
