Muscat municipality seizes 30 illegal possessions and removes 13 in Seeb
General directorate of Muscat municipality seized lately in Seeb 30 illegal ) possessions and removed 13 after making sure that they are unlicensed within the controlled region that includes possessions and building violating the applicable regulations and laws in the context of fighting the violating possessions in order to protect the public property .
Mohsen Ben Ali Al Harethi senior legal researcher in the general directorate of Muscat municipality in Seeb, confirmed that the number of the buildings removed lately reached (13) as the municipality gave a specific period for their owners for bringing the documents that prove their owning for the lands. The possessions controlled for remove varied in different regions in Seeb state and the municipality began in removing them in response to resolution No 13/ 2010 with respect to the immediate removal of the illegal possessions. Removals have been carried out in cooperation with the competent authorities, represented in the prosecution in Seeb ,royal Omani police and the ministry of housing , . In the case of the repeated occurrence, the municipality will double the punishment .
Mohsen Al Harethi indicated that the types of the possessions varied between the buildings of the extensions, old fences established with fixed materials sheep pens, setting block stakes upon the possessed land, removal of the illegal caravans, net-based fences and also the landscaping .
On the other hand, in the context of fighting the building of the illegal extensions inside houses and farms by the general directorate of Muscat municipality in Seeb, and in cooperation with His Excellency The Wali office, The prosecution and the police station of the state for fighting this illegal activity which aims usually at leasing these extensions for the expats, affecting the social, health and security aspects in state .
Muscat municipality exerts continuous efforts in fighting the illegal possessions and extensions.
Municipality has licenses specified for building theses extensions inside the houses for the service of the dwellers of these houses. They consist of setting rooms, kitchens and rooms which are not licensed at all for leasing, especially the expats because of the social, security and planning misdeeds and for the danger of the existence of those expats in the residential areas
Muscat municipality in this aspect calls all citizens and dwellers not to dwell the expats in the residential areas due to their violation of the article No (116) from the local order No 23/ 92 with respect to regulating the buildings in Muscat, as the articles sets out " Labor camps shall not be established unless in the places planned for this purpose by the government and with the terms specified by the municipality. The small camps of the laborers in the building location and not for any other works are excluded from this article provided that they get a prior approval from the municipality and to be built and removed in accordance with the terms and specifications set by the municipality. " .
As Muscat municipality Act set the establishment of the laborers` camps in the construction sites and the sites specified for this purpose. Muscat municipality will continue its campaign for fighting this activity. The municipality wishes that the all cooperate in fighting this activity for the public interest
