Muscat municipality inaugurates Udai valley tunnel and the two track Sultan Qaboos road

Recently, Muscat municipality inaugurated the traffic tunnel of Udai valley which serves the region, shortens and facilitates the access of the vehicles going out of Udai valley and heading to the regions of Rowa and Qaram across the public road without need to go through the oil terminal, as this project is a part of the strategy of establishing the upper networking bridges of Udai valley which have been inaugurated before three months in the both directions. A turning across the top of the circle in which the work is underway now is executed to reach an intersection equipped with smart optical signals. These tracks are highly streamlined for the traffic for those coming from Rowa up to Amerat and also the opposite direction for those heading to Qaram. Bridges and the tunnel have been designed and executed in accordance with the latest engineering standards and international technical specifications for road design.
Bridges work included the establishment of a network of the new upper bridges in the circle of Udai valley that meets the highest levels of the bridge intersections in the world cities and the transfer of the established circle to quadrant intersections equipped with optical signs.
Networking bridge are regarded as one of the vital strategic projects in Udai valley and it connects Amerat state with Muttrah and Muscat states. Project system of work has been executed according to the schedule. The upper bridge with the two tracks has been established above the established bridge with iron bars instead of reinforced concrete as in the rest of the bridges for speeding up the construction process for the sake of reducing the traffic congestion in the region .
Work now is underway in transferring Udai valley circle to a quadrant intersection equipped with optical signs. Project also includes the development of drainage systems and the valleys sewage networks in the region. It also includes the transfer of all electric and water service lines affected by the project and equipping the project with lighting columns necessary to fit the new extensions .
Two track road in the Sultan Qaboos city
Also the two track road between the intersection No. (3) of the high way Muscat road through Sultan Qaboos city and up to the head intersection of Sultan Qaboos road in Khuwair has been inaugurated with a length of nearly (1.8 km). Project includes the execution of two tracks in each direction and an expansion into five tracks at the intersections for promoting the efficiency of the traffic in this region. Project contains the establishment of a new intersection equipped with optical signs serve the internal roads related to the two-track road of the project. It also contains the execution of a number of entries and exits for the surrounding area that aligns the road and the expansion and rehabilitation of the incoming intersection leading to Dohat Al-adab road .
Municipality, by executing these vital projects, aims at reducing the traffic congestions, promoting the efficiency of the traffic, promoting the absorptive capacity of the street and making them, at all weather conditions ,away from the influence of the valleys sewage. Project has been equipped with all necessary protection means, including concrete barriers, side buttresses and guiding regulations. Municipality hastens to execute a number of the development projects in the city according to a modern vision includes the commercial and expansionary activities, urban expansions and the population growth witnessed by Muscat governorate.
