Muscat Municipality has recently assigned a project of a new main intersection between Wadi Al-Khoud Bridge and Al-Mabilah Al-Janubbiya from the east at Muscat Expressway. This is to be linked to a currently established road that will be doubled up to Al-Salam Road (Al-Khoud – Al-Mabilah Road). Also, free entrances and exits to and from Muscat Expressway are to be constructed, serving Al-Mabilah Al-Janubbiya and its associated ways. Twenty months as of implementation, it is hoped that the project will come true.

The project also involves the development of the current bridge of the road leading to Al-Mabilah Cemetery through expanding the currently established bridge and the introduction of new free entrances and exits linked to Muscat Expressway and the Cemetery Road, which also serves Al-Mabilah Al-Janubbiya directly from the west. In addition, a road linking Al-Khoud (Al-Belad) with Sih Al-Hadf village across Wadi Al-Khoud, is planned for paving.

The project will provide significant entrances and exits for residents of Al-Mabilah Al-Janubbiya, apart from the currently constructed entrances and exits: Intersection No. 12 on the Muscat Expressway, as well as across Al-Salam Road (Al-Mabilah – Al-Khoud) and Al-Seeb Public Road.

Upon completion, the project will contribute to boosting the efficiency of the road, the ever-growing flow of traffic within the area and shortening distances. It will also affect the growth of the urban and commercial movement due to the fact that the area involves schemes and is rich in highly dense residential districts.
