Muscat Municipality removes 5 illegal possessions and warns other 4 possessions in Seeb

General Directorate of Muscat Municipality has recently removed five illegal possessions after making sure that there are no documents indicating their legality among the observed site which contains possessions and buildings violating applicable regulations and laws in the light of the intensive efforts with respect to addressing phenomenon of violating possessions in order to protect the public property.

The Municipality has granted the owners of these possessions a deadline to submit any paper proving the lands ownership. The observed possessions were distributed into different areas in Seeb and they were removed in application of the resolution No.(13/2010) concerning the immediate removal of random possessions. The removals were carried out in cooperation with concerned authorities represented in general prosecution of Seeb, Royal Oman police and Ministry of Housing. The violators were obliged to write personal pledges of not repeating these violations again. In case of repetition, the penalty will be doubled.

The possessions varied between supplements buildings, fences constructed by fixed materials and sheep barns, installation of pillars in bricks on possessed lands and removal of illegal caravans and fences fixed on windows as well as landscaping.

On the other hand, General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Seeb proceeded to address phenomenon of establishments of random buildings, inside houses and farms, in cooperation with office of the Wali and general prosecution to address this illegal phenomena which usually aims to rent these supplements to foreign workers resulting in affecting social, health and security aspects in Seeb negatively.

Muscat Municipality makes a great effort to address random possessions and illegal supplements. There are licenses from Municipality allocated for establishments of these supplements in houses to serve inhabitants of these houses. They consist of boards, kitchens and rooms and they are not allowed to be used in purpose of renting especially for foreign workers in order to avoid social, security and planning disadvantages and seriousness of existence of these foreign workers in housing areas.

Muscat Municipality urges citizens and residents not to dwell foreign workers in housing areas in order not to violate Article No.(116) of Local Order No.(23/92) concerning regulation of buildings in Muscat, where the Article stated that establishment of workers camps may not be allowed except for places designated by State and allocated them for this purpose with terms determined by Municipality. The Small camps established only for those who work in construction site not any other workers shall be excluded from this Article provided that the Municipality shall give a prior consent of the same and be constructed and removed with terms and specifications determined by Municipality.
