Muscat Municipality closes (45) shops, destroys (37) food tons, executes (231)
violations of additional parking areas of customers of citrus market, develops facilities and expands mosque

In the context of continuous efforts of Muscat Municipality in fields of inspection and food control. Teams of field inspection made (4336) visitations resulted in closing (45) commercial shops and executing (231) violations. Quantities of destroyed foodstuffs, vegetables and fruits reached more than (37) tons in different sites and markets in Muscat.
Muscat Municipality has adjusted and prepared parking areas of vehicles located in the western side of market in the context of development plans of central citrus to accommodate more than 100 parking areas allocated for parking of vehicles of customers and visitors of market in order to promote market proficiency which witness active growing purchase movement especially in this holy month Administration of the citrus market makes great efforts to provide comfort environment and ease movement to customers of market and provide various services where currently the mosque of market is expanded and new toilets are added, the public facilities are maintained and the parking areas of containers and organization of vegetables and fruits selling trucks which their number is multiplied during this period in year.
Directorates
The directorates of Muscat Municipality has recently made (1004) visitations on food establishments and shops related to public health resulted in closing (2) shops and executing (53) violations due to lack of compliance with application of approved health requirements as well as destroying various foodstuffs reached (177) kilograms, (335) cans and (1100)mm of foodstuffs which are unfit for human consumption in addition to (14) pieces of tools used in cooking and shaving.
Mutrah closes (43) shops
Department of Health Affairs in General Directorate of Muscat Municipality of Seeb at Mutrah Al-Kubra has closed (43) commercial shops and executed (170) health violations within (2289) visitations made by specialist in inspection and food control sections of restaurants , cafes and meats selling shops and other activities related to safety and health of food.
Visitations aim to concentrate directly on activities of consumer commercial complexes to raise health level of commercial establishment, make sure of expiration date of offered foodstuffs, control compliance of foodstuffs storage methods and make sure of disposal of old food in order not to be provided to customers in the following day. Meat shops were the most concerned shops to make sure of using of appropriate methods of keeping and storing, complying with health requirements and fighting the commercial fraud to maintain health and safety of consumer.
The campaigns of Mutrah resulted in destroying (656.5) Kg of meats, chicken and fish and (275.5) Kg of cooked foodstuffs as well as (812) cans of various foodstuffs.
Female Inspection Division which is responsible for visiting and inspecting the shops related to women activity such as hairdressing and cosmetics shops and women`s health clubs has destroyed (82) tools of hairdressing and cosmetics as well as destroying (82) packets of materials used in cosmetology.
The General Directorate of Muscat Municipality in Mutrah Al-Kubra makes a great efforts to follow up goods that are not compliance with approved standards and make sure of conformity of production dates and expiration dates. The program of visitations continues till completion of visitations of all commercial establishments related to health and safety of food.
Port Office:
Specialists in Health Inspection Office at Port of Sultan Qaboos in cooperation with specialists in veterinary quarantine of Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries have destroyed (1137) boxes of Turkish sweets as they are unfit for human consumption due to the poor storage and their exposition to the sun rays for a long time, they were thrown in the landfill under the supervision of specialists.
Citrus Market
The visitations in the central citrus reached (1043) visitations and (8) health violations were executed. (35894) Kg of visible rotten vegetables and fruits as they are rotten. (435) Kg of local cheese was also destroyed due to it has not a statement card in addition to (70) Kg of fish, fish and shrimps due to the poor storage.
