Muscat Municipality intensifies control in Ramadan, closes (4 shops) and destroys (77) tons of chicken

Specialists of Muscat Municipality in cooperation with specialists of veterinary quarantine of Ministry of Agriculture and animal resources destroyed 77 tons and 906 kilograms of Brazilian frozen chicken after appearance of examinations results indicating the unfitness for human use due to their inconformity with Omani standards specifications. These tons were seized and destroyed in landfills.

Muscat Municipality has concerned effectively and continuously in various provinces and areas of Muscat governorate with continuous control and inspection especially intensification of health campaigns in the holy month. Due to the active commerce in the holy month, the efforts of inspection and food inspection sections have multiplied in visitations to control health and safety of Ramadan meals and other meals and to make sure of following up the health requirements in their preparation and provision to consumer. The last month, about (1004) visitations were made resulting in closing (4) shops and executing (62) health violations.

Moreover, unfit foodstuffs for human use were destroyed reaching (72) kilograms and (41) cans in addition to destruction of (16) tools used in cooking.
In the central citrus market where the movement of trade increases in these days of the holy Ramadan month, specialists made (1013)visitations resulting in closing one shop, executing(10) health violations and destroying (27935.5) kilograms of different kinds of vegetables and fruits.
Due to the care of Muscat Municipality for health and safety of citizens, it urges the necessity for permanent communication with communication center via telephone No. (1111) for any comments or inquiries. Muscat Municipality also urges the owners of establishments to the necessity of compliance with all health requirements and following up health status in it and resorting to the competent municipality in case of any inquiries.
