Muscat municipality plays an important role and exerts a great effort for ensuring the health and safety of food. The Inspection and Food monitoring Departments in Muscat municipality, during the first half of the current month, have executed a number of (2757) visitations spreading into all food facilities, public health-related shops and the land and air ports which are subject to the healthy supervision of the municipality. These visitations have led to issuance (142) violations and warning the shops which violate the health regulations. They also have led to damaging a variety of food and sanitary ware.
Competent officials have intensified also the inspection campaigns upon barber shops for increasing the health awareness among their workers and compliance with the adopted health regulations in order to promote the health awareness in public and private hygiene. They have led to executing (176) visitations and issuing (42) health violations and damaging a number of (1167) of the tools and materials unfit for human use.
There were also (27) kg and (79) boxes of the foods, which are unfit for human consumption, have been damagedA visitation in Siib upon hawkers has been executed, which has led to damaging a number of (35) kg of rotten fish and a number of (600) kg of vegetables and fruits.
Moreover, competent officials in the Mawaleh central market have executed a number of (1040) visitations. They have led to issuance of (3) health violations and damaging more than eighty thousand kilograms of vegetables and fruits which are unfit for human consumption due to the virtual mold as well as damaging a number of (500) five hundred of the egg cartons.
In the context of the existing coordination with the regulatory authorities in the Sultanate and under the instructions issued to reject some foods which are not conforming to the approved specifications, the follow-up and control of a number of (9) food products has been executed for following up the shops and ensuring that they are not existent .
