Afforestation of an area of half a million square meters in the main street

Muscat municipality inaugurates (30) parks and develops a plan for establishing another (50) new parks during the upcoming three years

 
• Completion of a number of (30) of total (40) parks and children`s playgrounds within the current plan in all over the city.
• Parks are distributed upon all areas in the city to give an aesthetic view and to represent an outlet for comfort and recreation.
• Athaibah gardens include sports stadiums, skiing areas, facilities and public squares.
• Connecting Athaibah beach park with the pier for giving a mixture of beauty to the location.

Muscat municipality executes the afforestation of an area of half a million square meters of grass, seasonal flowers, trees and palm next to Sultan Qaboos main street in Siib, extending from Muscat International Airport and along the roundabout perimeter of Al Sahwah tower until the roundabout of Al Mawj Muscat St. through Al Bahjah commercial center. In the context of Muscat municipality interest with giving aesthetic touches and deploying the green areas all over the city, interfaces of roads and vital places, it has finished 2 km of the total area and it continues the cultivation of the remaining 3 km .

Also the municipality has completed the establishment of a number of (30) parks and children`s playgrounds distributed on the different states of Muscat governorates within the project of (40) parks and children`s playgrounds announced previously by the municipality. The work in them goes according to the schedules, as the remaining of the plan is just (10) parks and the municipality continues the work in them and we hope to complete their establishment during the current year .

Municipality also announced that it is heading to establish (50) new parks in the states of Muscat governorates for a period continues to the upcoming three years. They will be executed according to the needs and the estimates of the population and urban density in the neighborhoods .

Parks Specifications

Children`s playgrounds projects contain hexagonal football pitches, sites for children games, lanes which connect the park areas with the interlocking bricks, covered lounges and lighted seatings as well as the geometric shapes, the different formations of ornamental flowers, landscaping and trees for providing the suitable atmosphere for children and families to spend good time and to practise sports. These playgrounds are considered as an outlet especially in overpopulated areas, traffic and also an outlet for providing a healthy and recreational sports environment in the city .

Among the parks and children`s playground`s that have been established in accordance with the plan isAl Ansab garden in the second phase and with a total area of (15381 m2).

It contains a lane built with the interlocking bricks with the length of (2640 m2) and a number of palm, (3) sunshades, (6) seating and the installation of (12) scouts lighting .

Also

And the completion of Al Khuwair children playground 33/ a with an area of (3636 m2 ) and equipped with (7) lighting columns and a number of trees, palm, (6) seating and (6) children games .

Al Khuwair children`s playground 33/ b with a total area of (2800 m2) and a lane built with the interlocking brick with a total length of (708m2) and (8) lighting columns, (6) seatings and a number of (5) different children games .

Bosher children`s playground 35 / a with a total area of (2111 m2) and covering it with industrial turf with a total area of (1180 m2), a number of (7) different children games, (6) scouts lighting and (2) seatings .

>Southern Hiil children`s playground with a total area of (3104 m2) and a footpath with a total area of (750 m2), cultivating the playground with a landscaping with a total length of (2050 m2), cultivating (15) trees and installation of a number of 6) scouts lighting .

Al Khawd children`s playground project within a total area of (6130 m2 ), a footpath of a total area of (1050 m2), weeding the landscaping with a rate of (4000 m2), cultivating a number of (20) trees and installation of the children games .

Al Mawaleh two children`s playgrounds project, the fourth phase with a total area of (2180 m2) and the second phase with a total area of (2372 m2) equipped with all recreation and comfort services.

Al Nahdah children`s playground, the fourth phase with a total area of (4423 m2), a linear lane with total area of (1224 m2), installation of (12) different children games and a number of (6 ) night scouts .

The establishment of two children`s playgrounds in Al Nahdah city, Al Hager area (a) with a total area of (5768 m2) and Al Nahdah children`s playground, Al Hager area (b) with a total area of (4533 m2 ) .

In Qurayat state, municipality has executed the rehabilitation of Quarayat public garden and the installation of the interlocking brick. Previously, the municipality has rehabilitated Al Buhairah garden which had been influenced with hard climatic atmospheres .

Garden Projects

General directorate for afforestation and gardens began the execution of a number of vital projects that serve the city. It completed the development and beautification project of Al Maared Road square which is located between Sultan Qaboos St. and Al Maared sub road, with a total area determined with around 2.5 km and an average width of 50 m in a modern style equipped with all facilities and services for the exercise of walking, hiking and resting. Municipality also continues work to complete the second phase of Athaibah gardens project .

Second phase of Athaibah gardens project

The project of Athaibah gardens which is located next to Sultan Qaboos main St. along National Transportation Company has witnessed an advanced stage of implementation. The work is now continued in the execution of the second phase. These gardens have been designed in accordance with global standards which appear in connecting the gardens with the urban area in the surrounding. So, it represents a connection between the neighborhoods adjacent to the site; including housing, schools, shops and mosques. Also the gardens have been designed for providing the services of recreation, hiking, walking and the other sports which fit the young and youth who represents the base of the population pyramid in the area .

Gardens include the football stadiums, volleyball stadiums, two basketball stadiums, free skiing area and other variety of games in addition to the other public areas which represent a typical meeting place for resident families and individuals in the areas adjacent to the gardens for the promotion of the social and cultural activities in the city .

Gardens contain lounges and cafes for their customers who will have the opportunity to practise different sports through walking, sitting under Omani trees which are marked with shading and their ability to survive in hot and dry areas.

Athaibah Pier Project

Muscat municipality continues the execution of Athaibah pier project by the works of developing the site, establishing recreative aesthetic facilities for the sake of enriching the site and promotion of tourism and the protection of Athaibah pier which is located in 18 November St. near to Athaibah park as the purpose is to connect the project with the park, giving an aesthetic touch through its overlapping with the sea in order to provide more physical comfort and visual vision for the site .In the execution of the project, we have taken into account both the human and environmental dimensions and recruiting the natural elements inside it in order to represent an outlet for both residents and visitors and to meet the needs of the sea-goers from the different age groups. It is also considered as a suitable place for fishing .

Project elements

The project contains the establishment of a lounge and cafe, sunshades in the form leaves with the length of 70 m and a width ranges from 7 to - 12 m and a walkway with different heights along the pier. Project also contains afforestation, gardening, cultivating palm, shade trees, shrubs and covering an area of 1016 m with landscaping. It contains seating and tables. Also you can sit on the walls surrounding the project which are at the height of 45 cm along the pier. This is in addition to the installation of lighting columns and the lights which are consistent with the design .
