Muscat Municipality implements cleanliness and awareness campaigns in Al-Saifa

Muscat Municipality implementes an intensive campaign to combat insects, pests and rodents in Al-Saifa of the State of Muscat through formation of a working team set by the Pest Control Department of the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Mutruh Al-Kubra to eliminate parasites, insects, mosquitoes and creatures that spread during the summer in order to maintain the safety and security of the area.
Ahmad bin Salaam Al-Hadrami, head of Pest Control Department in Mutruh Al-Kubra, has affirmed that the Directorate has formed a working team, that continues its work since middle of the current month, implementing an extensive campaign to spray sites of animal husbandry area in Al-Saifa by using high-pressure type machines and small-scale spraying machines, and the use of the control technique by thermal fogging, using natural material that is not harmful to animals. Control Campaigns continues on an ongoing basis until the completion of all areas where there are barns for livestock and animal breeding.
Ahmad Al-Hadrami explained that the Department, on Wednesday, will deliver a number of awareness lectures and guidance in order to educate citizens and those interested in animal husbandry on how to deal with insects and pests that infect animals and transmit diseases as well as the methods of reporting to the competent authorities.
Moreover, the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality at Mutruh Al-Kubra carries out the implementation of an intensive awareness program for housewives and the public, targeting school students to conduct awareness tours in residential neighborhoods, and distributing leaflets and scientific publications about the methods of healthy means of sanitation, personal hygiene, home and neighborhood cleanliness and conservation of resources and facilities.
The Planning and Training Department, in turn, implements continuous training programs for its employees working in the area of health and pest control. Last week, the "First Aid for Pesticide Poisoning" Program was concluded, while a "Remote Sensing Applications in Pest Control" program is intended to start off next week.
Considered a tourist attractive area in Muscat, Al-Saifa is located in a breathtaking geographical place lying between the majestic mountains and beautiful beaches. The Municipality is implementing several development projects and service facilities in this region.
