Half a million of green carpet, shrubs and palm trees
Muscat Municipality performs afforestation of the main roads frontages

Under the interest of Muscat Municipality deployment of green areas and development of the city, Muscat Municipality carries on the afforestation project of half a million square meters of the main road in Al-Seeb and afforestation of the duplication of Al-Kharijiyyah Road and the square, located in front of the Royal Opera House in Al-Sarooj.
With three kilometers of grass, seasonal flowers, trees and palm trees beside Sultan Qaboos Main Street in Al-Seeb, extending from Muscat International Airport and along the perimeter roundabout of Al-Sahwa Tower up to the roundabout of Al-Mooj Muscat, and passing through Al-Bahja Business Center, two kilometers remaining for planting. Efforts are not spared to add the aesthetic finishing touches and deployment of green areas around the city and on public frontages of roads, vital areas and urban communities.
Moreover, afforestation and cultivation of Al-Kharijiyyah Road duplication and the square, located in front of the Royal Opera House in Al-Sarooj after seeking the best global experience in the field of afforestation and landscaping for the design of these frontages and preparing the detailed models and engineering plans. The site is mainly marked by its lively uniqueness and spectacular view along Al Sultan Qaboos Street and the intersection of Al-Kharijiyyah with its proximity to the architectural building of the Opera House.
The project involves variety of formations of Islamic architecture e.g. bouquets of roses with their coordinated colors and trees deployed in a balanced, systematic way, giving aesthetic finishing touches of water fountains and spreading of flowerbeds that cover the square.
This forms a beautiful picture reflecting on the place.
The side spaces will also be decorated with green areas and seasonal flowers in the Public Square adjacent to the Royal Opera House.
Moreover, the sides of Al-Kharijiyyah Road duplication project will be planted with trees, flowers and extending green areas.
The municipality is working on the expansion of the green areas to get rid of visual contaminants, maintain the landscape to be more fascinating and beautiful, utilize the natural elements of the sites to be a source of joy for visitors and meet the needs of the population of the city in line with the directives of the government regarding maintaining the natural sites in the city.
Muscat Municipality is currently concentrating on designing and developing a set of service and development projects according to the global specifications and standards with the close correlation to authenticity and aesthetic, cultural and social Omani inheritance and through a strategic direction to enhance the position of Muscat as humane city, abound in originality, contemporaneity standards and beautiful landscape and environmental profiles.
