Muscat Municipality paves 44 kilo meters of internal roads in Qurayyat

Among the efforts made by Muscat Municipality according to continuous action plans in provision of necessary services, rehabilitation and promotion of different service facilities in Muscat governorate to cope with process of urban development and commercial activity witnessed in the city. Municipality, represented in Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Qurayyat, continues executing service and developing projects in province.
Eng. Maged Bin Abdul Allah El-Salty, Head of Roads Department in Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Qurayyat, clarified that total paved roads which are going to be executed within this year is 44 kilo meters distributed into a number of areas and neighborhoods in province.
7.5 kilo meters were executed in El-Dahr neighborhood with 3.5 kilo meters long, industrial area with 2 kilo meters long and Sih Moghit with 2 kilo meters long.
Moreover, there are 37 kilo meters long projects and a number of these projects will be executed within the coming period as follows: Taba and Al-Dabaany districts at a length of 5.8 meters, Al-Afia road- Al-Atab at a length of 3.2 meters, Sih Al-Rihany road and Hail El Ghaf at a length of 2 meters, Dabab 2.5 meters, El-Salha 2 meters, El- Dahr neighborhood 2 meters, Mohia 2.5 meters , 1 kilo meter at El-Sahl area, 1.5 meters in El-Wasta area (El-Marah, Meselah, Kallaf), 500 meters in El-Hagr Qurayyat, 1 kilo meter in El-Ganin, 1 kilo meter in El-Maalah, 250 meters in Kliat, 700 meters western El-Shahbary, pavement of 1 kilo meter in farms road, Dabah 1.5 kilo meters, Badghomr 2 kilo meters (Mahden, Salan, El-Gonah, El-Wez), 150 meters in Afa, 2.7 kilo meters in western El-Faiad, 2 kilo meters in El-Ramla/Makhisrat, 2 kilo meters in Hail El Ghaf, 350 meters in El-Masfah and 300 meters in El-Atab area.
Extension of Farms Road
Maged Bin Abdul Allah El-Salty confirmed that the Municipality proceeded in executing farms road and indemnifying owners who are affected by the Project as the Municipality coordinated with citizens and owners of farms existing on both sides of road to review and discuss the necessity of road extension and to agree on the practical steps to execute it and agree on the area required to be removed to execute the road and how to indemnify their owners. The office of the Governor had a significant role in this regard.
Determination of road rack with all its components helped in identifying the parts of affected farms on both sides of road. The total affected area in the first road (Farm village) is 773.62 square meters while the affected area in the second road (El-Hasn village) is 573.11 square meters. Muscat Municipality has already proceeded in indemnifying owners of farms for the plants and areas affected by extension project.
Project Components:
The road will be extended to be a practical road for all kinds of vehicles in two ways and it will prepared and paved at a length of(300 meters). Also, it will be provided with lights and interlock pavements on both sides of road as an aesthetic elements for projects and to facilitate footpaths of citizens. The width of the road is 10.6 meters including all components such lights, side buttress and interlock paths.
The trees in the parts that are affected by road extension project are removed and soil is removed from such areas and settled to level of road. A protection wall for farms shall be implemented throughout both sides and tracks shall be implemented for water cannels existing in such farms which intersect the road. A pavement will be fixed on both sides of road (550 meters long) and the covering and interlocking works will be (900 square meters).
