Muscat Municipality Opens Expansion of Darsait Bridge for the Tracks Heading to Roy

Concurrently with the 43th glorious National Day celebration, Muscat Municipality has opened the new expansion of the Darsait Bridge for the tracks heading to Roy, Al Wadi Al Kabeer, the Port Road and roads related to it for the traffic in line with the important plan to raise the efficiency of the traffic and work on the sustainability of its flow at all the times within a strategy to promote roads network in Muscat Governorate according to the highest engineering and technical specifications and traffic safety standards.
The new tracks and the expansion in this vital project witness a smooth traffic flow in its five various tracks, two of them heading to the top of the new upper bridge in the way of port street and three tracks descending to expand after the curve to be divided into two tracks heading to areas of Muttrah Al Wadi Al Kabeer and two tracks to Darsait and Roy. It is expected that the other reverse tracks coming from Roy and the Port Road heading to Qurum will be opened for the traffic at the end of this month.
The percentage of accomplishment of project of development of (Darsait- Al Wadi Al Kabeer) Street in its other parts has reached more than 60% of the works which are currently executed in middle of a vital area in which a road passes. It serves different sectors and activities. The project includes construction of upper bridges and development of all intersections related to the road from the end of Qurum Heights road to Al Wadi Al Kabeer Roundabout . The project includes in its various parts the expansion of the upper bridge locating at the intersection which is next to Hassan ibn Thabit School and connection of its parts with the new bridge which is executed at the top of the intersection opposite to the “Stars Cinema Building” with two tracks in the two ways along with development of the optical intersection below the bridge to serve the roads related to the project. An upper bridge will be constructed on the intersection which is next to Sheraton Hotel and another upper bridge will be constructed at the top of the Al Wadi Al Kabeer Roundabout with two tracks in each way along with converting the roundabout to a quadrant intersection supplied with signal lights. The project will be supplied with all methods of traffic safety, lighting and methods of discharge of surface water.
