A Media Campaign, organized by the Muscat Municipality for the preservation of the Districts of Muscat clean
For carrying on the efforts of the Muscat Municipality, exerted to clean the Districts of Muscat and for implementing the visions pursued by the Municipality in maintaining the civilized appearance of the city, the Municipality, since the commencement of January, has currently begun an intensive Media Campaign that aims to maintain the Districts of Muscat free of garbage, almost around the clock. Achieving this purpose, the Municipality has set appointments for disposing household waste out on a daily basis. The campaign is planned to continue for an entirely full year .
One of the objectives of the campaign is to entrench the idea of compliance to the scheduled hours to dispose wastes out, which starts from 4:00 pm till 12:00 am. Coinciding with various awareness activities, published in various readable, audio or video media, the Campaign targets reaching as many as possibe of the population in order for the commitment and cooperation with the Municipality, since the municipal work is a hand-in-hand work of the Municipality and citizens and residents .
During the Campaign, peolpe will be introduced to the mechanism and hours of waste disposal. Garbage is collected in waste-collecting bags, avoiding adding effluents. This is coupled with distributing various leaflets and publications, which aim to make clear the idea of the campaign to the society members as well as radio programs and indicative television shows, focusing on the idea, goal and outcomes of the Campaign.
The main objective of the Campaign is to urge people to comply to a specific time for disposing household waste out. The Municipality then transports that waste to landfill sites in order to keep the containers clean and free of dirt throughout the morning and early evening hours. This, in turn, adds more civilization to the residential distrcts, and protects the environment from pollutants, resulting from the accumulation of waste e.g. the proliferation of disease-carrying insects and rodents, the gathering of stray animals and the spread of odors.
In this context, the Muscat Municipality implore all citizens and residents to cooperate with it and to join hands for the success of the campaign to achieve the set target, for everyone to enjoy a clean and healthy environment .

The Muscat Municipality, in 2009 , carried out a similar month-long campaign. It achieved a lot of goals and satisfactory outcomes at the institutionally and socially, serving the public health and environmental safety.
People showed clear compliance to the time of garbage disposal and cooperation for the success of the great efforts of the Municipality in order to maintain the public sanitation of the districts of Muscat and to add a civilized touch to the City.
