The Muscat Municipality has recently inauguarted the Duplication Project of Ghal - Ansab Road (Phase II), 2.5 km long, for traffic amid a vital region through which the road passes and serves many different sectors and activities. The road is marked by its smooth flow of traffic along its various tracks. Given the intensity of vehicles and trucks driven daily along this road, the Muscat Municipality has developed strategic plans in order to eliminate the traffic bottlenecks in the area and its important associated ways. The project connects the traffic coming from Muscat Expressway and Sultan Qaboos Street and heading to the Jifnain Road and Addakhliyah Governorate, through Ghla, Ansab and Misfat.
With its 2.5 kilometers length and two roundabouts for the distribution of traffic, the project in Phase II extends from the roundabout of Ansab and until the end of the new scheme area of Falaj Al-Sham. This phase involves the establishment of an 800-meter-long and 7-to-12- meter-high retaining wall. It passes a secure course far from the valley groove and aims to transform the existing traffic from amid the valley to the parties based on the mountainous ridge for more preventive precautions and avoidance of the risk of runoff from valleys and reef.

Consisting of two lanes of 7.3 meters wide in each direction of the dual road, a middle road island of 4 meters wide with internal brackets of 60 cm wide, and external brackets of 2.5 meters wide. The road has been designed and equipped with all the necessary safety means from the vital entrances and exits that serve the housing schemes; this is coupled with the lighting works and box culverts for valley water drainage and surface water drainage along the track.
The project also includes the establishment of a service road of 900 meters long, extending from the new roundabout of Ansab and serving the villages of Falaj Al-Sham, Hammam and Sanb. This extends until the beginning of the schems area of Falaj Al-Sham, linking, afterwards, with the existing service street.

PHASE I OF THE PROJECT
Opened in the middle of the previous year, Phase I of the project is 6.2 kilometers long, extending from the intersection No. 7 along Muscat Expressway and up to the roundabout of Ansab, as part of the development works of the road network and a support of the efficiency of traffic in Muscat.
The road in Phase I involves a 100-meter-long bridge on the Valley of Ansab, established based on the hydrological studies of the level of water in the region along 100 years. This came along with the establishment of a free intersection, serving Ansab and Ghala Al-Belad areas. Moreover, the project includes linking Ansab area with entrances and roundabouts of Ghala road and establishing two roundabouts, distributing traffic to residential and commercial areas. Culverts and channels for rainwater draiange have also been created so that the road remains passable under all weather conditions.
