Muscat Municipality celebrates the Food Safety Week with various activities

In celebration with the Food Safety Week, Muscat Municipality launches many events, activities and programs that embodies the importance of this week to target different classes of the society where the Municipality participates with an awareness gallery in the Food Safety Week that the ministries of regional Municipalities and water sources organizes in Al Bustan Palace Hotel from 21 to 24 April.
Qais B. Soliman Al Kusghari, the director of the health affairs in Muscat Municipality and the team supervisor, pointed that participation of the Municipality comes to meet the invitation of the ministry, and emphasizing then importance of the Food Safety, health inspection, awareness and control role in association with the control of food, vegetables and fruits.
Besides, exchanging experience, knowing new thing, promoting cooperation and cooperation frames between service institutions concerned with this field, where Muhamed Ali Al Baloushi, the food inspector in the health affairs department, will participate with a paper under the title (Role of the Municipality in Food Safety) in Wednesday morning.
Qais B. Soliman Al Kusghari pointed that there is a cooperation and coordination between the Municipality and the General Directorate of Education in Muscat to spread the awareness regarding the safety of students food in coincidence with the Food safety Week, give an awareness address in the internal broadcasting in schools includes different awareness messages and emphasizing the necessity of cooperating with Muscat Municipality through (1111) or websites. The health inspectors give awareness lectures in schools, organize field inspection rounds to some students to make them aware of the inspection mechanism and health prerequisites..
In many Malls in Muscat, the awareness prints are distributed as it contains some topics regards that week, and the most noteable is: Food additions, how to buy food, selling health vegetables and fruits, selling health chicken, labels of products, food poison conditions, safety of food, principles of selling safe food, how to know the fresh fish and bad exercises for workers in commercial facilities..
Muscat Municipality participated with a work paper presented by Dr. Ahmed Abd Al salam, municipal affairs specialist under the title (the influence of pesticides to agricultural products) in the seminar "The influence of pesticides to agricultural products" that the Municipality organized in coordination with the Oman Association for Consumer Protection
The open day regarding the food
The Municipality organizes Thursday morning the open day program that is held in Al Maha Fun Club in Bowsher related to Muscat Municipality and includes many activities and events that target the employee of Muscat Municipality and public visitors. In 8:30 Am, an awareness lecture will be presented regarding the fast food by a specialist from the health ministry following it at 9:00 Am a discussion under the title (Inspection and control over food in Muscat) handles guideline regarding a general topic in self development represented by Al fadel Soliman Al Mahmid from the Saudi Arabia. The technical and departmental situation will discuss the departments of inspection, controlling food through listening to inspector opinions, posing basic obstacles that the inspection departments face, controlling food in the Municipality and discussing the future vision of the inspection section and controlling the food in the Municipality.
The programs of the open day will continue to include making competitions and various sections to the Municipality inspectors. besides, Organizing a show of food safety with participation of some governmental bodies. The gallery will be open to all Municipality workers and visitors all the day. Many posters for studies that are made in the Municipality, some projects of the students in the field of food safety and some products, studies, devices and information will be presented in the gallery by the specialists in the Agricultural Research Center.
