Muscat Municipality executes "health and safety" program for its employees.

Muscat Municipality continues to execute the "occupational health and safety" program for its employees who are working at the different departments and directorates of the Municipality in the field of occupational security, safety and precautionary health. The program lasts for five days at the Municipality building in Darsit. Mr Ashraf Muhammed Salah, Quality Management, environment and general safety consultant, is the appointed lecturer for the program.
The program contains the most important information that concerns those working in the field of occupational safety and health to maintain and improve the employees` health and ability to work, and to improve the work environment to make it more suitable for safety and health.
The program tackles a number of themes, the most important of which is the definition and importance of the concept of occupational health and safety, training the participants to the use of personal protective equipment, fire prevention and the like and identifying the procedures of security and safety as one of the most important elements of quality standards. The program also touches on the elements of the worker`s security and safety in the work environment represented in the element of physical security associated with the equipment of the workplace, the element of socio-psychological security such as health and after-retirement insurances as well as other facilitations, and the results of abiding by the system of occupational health and safety. The program includes a definition of the work-related diseases and injuries, work risk analysis, occupational safety management mechanism, and the definition, analysis and processing of the sources of potential danger.
The program aims at identifying the participants with the concept and importance of occupational safety and health, enabling them to investigate accidents and their causes and analysing work-related risks, thus protecting them from accidents and injuries and keeping the facilities along with their contents safe against damage and loss resulting from accidents in addition to providing all occupational and safety and health that guarantees a safe environment ensuring protection for human and materialistic elements from risks. The program also aims at familiarizing the participants with the international standards and conventions and the recommendations of the occupational safety and health as well as identifying them with the tasks and responsibilities due to them.
