The municipality council for the Muscat governrate explores the reinnovation of the Sultan Qabus touristic port

The municipal council of Muscat governrate is exploring  areas of re innovations in the touristic port of Al Sultan Qabus in Muttrah which includes a main square for the port`s waterfront and docks for yachts and tourists ships and the rehabilitations of the existing docks  and building new ones for the new generation of tourists ships, stations for the tourists, markets and a variety of buildings with fantastic designs with the marine touch of Oman in the way that would reflect the heritage and history of Oman, building yacht clubs, service centers for the tourists boats  (Al Marina), a compound of hotels on the international hight standards, fascinating malls with a touch of heritage, entertainment center, restaurants, coffee shops, marine exhibition and multiple stories parking lots... in the main square area.that was part of the sixth council meeting directed by his highness the engineer Muhsen Ben Mohamed Al Sheikh    Head  of the council in the attendance of members an representatives of the ministry of transportation and communication.
The representative of the ministry made a statement before the council explaining that the ministry is now conducting financial  studies especially for the establishment of the developed company of the Sultane Qabus port.
related to the project of developing the port is making plans to improve the northern lane in the state of Muttrah to come in harmony with the re innovation of the port as well as a number of services in cooperation with a number of relevant authorities.
The re innovation of Muscat International Airport
the statement also included a project for the re innovation of Muscat International Airport which includes increasing the airport`s capacity to 12 million passenger annually. These re innovations include a plan to enhance the airport`s annual capacity to 24 million passenger in 3rd phase and to 48 million in 4th phase, to meet the future need for capacity, building 29 bridge to move passengers to and from plains.  in addition to the construction 10 halls leading to shutter buses.as well as 86 counters to finish traveling procedures, 20 counters for self-service of travel procedures, 31 counters for passport and residential procedures for departing passengers and 56 counters for passport and residential procedures for arriving passengers to the Sultanate as for luggage building in has the capacaity of 260 thousand ton annually. and it will serve 24 thousand meals daily. as addition to a hotel with 90 rooms to host transit passengers. enabling the vehicle parkings to include 8000 vehicle and a building to maintain plains to contain two plains of the big size and 4 small ones.

Trains of Oman
the council has also listened to the railway project in the Sultanate where there`s a plan for a strategic project that will enable the sultanate to develop the transportation system and implement a logistics plan. Its importance lies in diversifying the economy and linking the posts aiming for the sultanate to become the gate of the area. which enhances attracting port trades which currently attracts 4 million tons of containers.
and about the the technical mechanism to solve the problem of the over flowing sanitations, the council has the brief recommendations of the health, social and environmental affairs committee which confirmed the necessity of setting a time frame  to implement the sanitation project to avoid delay, in addition to conducting a study that advised with increasing the sizes of sanitation containers to cover the populated areas where there`s an increasing rate of over flowing sanitation ... the study includes means of collecting fees.the council also approved the committee`s recommendation of establishing a trade zone in (Mahaj Al Rabeaa) in the state of Al Amerat; as one of Haya co. priorities to extend the draining networks in the state in the year of 2015, and to coordinate that with the municipality of Muscat considering that it plans to asphalting the roads in the area.

in addition to the committee`s recommendation to fa up the process of fixing the streets that has been dug to avoid holes and bumps. and the importance of putting signs, instructions and fencing the areas under construction to avoid accidents caused by cars falling in halls. and urging the municipality of muscat to coordinate with the company to unify the level of the street with the lower level of the drains of the streets to avoid gaps while asphalting. in addition to the final demand of implementing more awareness campaigns about unsuitable habits in using the sanitation system.

the council also approved the commitee`s recommendation of amendment of section n. (3) of the article in the  council`s recommendation no. (2/9/102 - 2014/1) which states that the responsibility of the an over-flowing drain is of the owner of the property in case its not engaged  by a renter about whom rent contract  is recorded in the municipality`s possession, and the renter is responsible for this voilation unless the contract states otherwise regarding sanitation container"
and regarding coordinationof the work  of taxis of Muscat international airport, the council has approved recommendation of the general affairs commitee to address the municipality of Muscat about a number of alternatives to implement the civil order no. (2012/1) which is establishing  an representing office of the municipality with enought staff employed with judicial power under the name of "Public space monitor" to take charge in recording violations of people who violate the civil order no. (2012/1) regarding the coordination of how taxis work  in Muscat international airport.  or another alternative which is to empower the existing office of municipality with employees with judicial power under the name of "Public space monitor" to perform what`s been mentioned in the first alternative.

in addition to the councils agreement on forming a  work team  to study the desiging of a work mechanism  to implement the civil rule no (2012/1) regarding organizing taxis in Muscat International Airport.and increasing the monitoring on the public taxis and private cars that stand on both sides of the airport streets, and public streets parallel to the airport. and issuing tickets against those who break the traffic laws any bylaws.  and coordinate with the relevant departments of Omani Police; that is to support the general authority of airport security with man force in Muscat International Airtport, to ease all the difficulties faced during work in the airport.
 
the council also approved the committee`s recommendation to address the supreme council to make a plan to reserve 30% of land spaces to greenery in the governmental lands kapt to built entertainment resorts and parks, which space exceeds 100,000 square meter. as for the residential commercial lands owned by the citizens with a space of 10,000 square meter or more to have from 30-40% of green and empty spaces, to make room for future parks or gardens inside these projects. It`s important to plan this with the municipality and to consider this suggestion when conducting engineering designs and blueprints of these projects, and study the possibility desiging green spaces on the roof tops of these buildings.  regarding touristic land supervised by the ministry of tourism, it`s suggested to reserve (30%) of the project`s space to green areas and parks, while putting restrains on that in coordination with the ministry.

considering the committee`s discussion of developing Wadi Ady area, the council has approved of assign eng/ Abdel Qawy Ben Abdalla Al Yafe`i (member- representative of the ministy of housing) to give a visual display for the municipal council about the study related to improving Wady Ady area. and addressing the supreme council for planning to conduct a comprehensive study about how to improve some old areas such as (Khaweer 2/17, Al Hamrya and Al qorm 16 similar to the study conducted about improving Wady Ady.  followed by a visit by members of the general affairs committee to old districts in every state in the governrate, making Wady Ady, Al Hamrya and Al Khaweer 2/17 priorities by coordination with the municipal affairs committees in the governrate of the Muscat and to qrite a full report about the statuses of these districts... and for this visit to be in the company of whom ever it may concern from the municipality of Muscat.

on the other hand, the council has explored a number of incoming letters from the chief council member - representative of the Omani police about traffic accidents in 18 november st which endangers users of this road because of a hard bend between Sheedy Hotel and the National Company of fairies that resulted in a number of accidents with a number of casualties and deaths.
the council has read the letter of highness the minister of the tourism about the coordination of taxis in Muscat governrate stating that a team is studying this matter has came up with a suggestion of the smart touristic taxi system that will be restricted to be used on 3,4 and 5 stars hotels only and not to generalize it due to the disapproval of the ministry of transportation and communication. in addition to reading the letter of the manager of health affairs authority in the municipality of Musqat about coordination with the general authority for consumer protection about decision no. (2015/38) regarding committing to use of single-use shaving tools because of the precedent has assured that it will enforce necessary arrangements to prevent raise of barbers fees without a reasonable excuse for that.
and matters of street selling and gas stations and public spaces that have been addressed by the representative of the council to the ministry of agricultural development reminding the council about serving Water-pipes (Sheesha) and smoking in public places to the committee of health,social and environment to study it and provide an opinion..
