The anti-pests and insects campaign using natural and mechanical means in Seeb
The general administration of Muscat Municipality in Seeb continues the summer anti-rodent and insects campaign that covers all its arias and it continues until the end of the summer. It targets rodent and insect infested arias of the state; Such as dumpsters, containers, shrubs, wet areas, vegetables and fish markets, buildings under construction, public places, industrial area and many others. That is part of the plan to provide a healthy and safe environment to residents of the state. during campaign, the number of reports was 686 in April, 617 in May and 421 in June. A significant decline in the number of reports of infested areas to the pest control devision to 38%.
The campaign was implemented by daily groups and monitors that cover all the state especially to teach residents about health, methods of prevention and the importance of general cleanliness through out the campaign. Also there has been statement about insects breading ways, the best ways to fight it and the importance of calling to report rodent infestations in homes.... by distributing educational flyers. two teams have been assigned in the evening shift to carry on the infestation control for the daily calls related to home pest control to the call center.
The teams have intensified their efforts to use mechanical biological means known as natural control. In the hope of reaching the green level of control and putting chemical means as a last resort since the trimming of trees made it easy to reach the most infested places and the best places to set traps and rat mats as well as using the most advanced ways of mechanical control. chemicals have been used... such as stationary units which is considered a successful way to fight rodents. Gel injection and liquid spraying is used against insects. Stickly wires are used in areas of flys breading and many other ways to kill flys and flying insects and create a healthy environment that doesn`t allow them to bread.
the campaign intensified its efforts of control and education in cooperation with the general cleanliness devision and field control teams in the industrial area.. especially in big workshops and warehouses that are considered largely infested by rodents due to habits of imported labor force. That has caused a great deal of trouble for residents of nearby areas. specialized teams have taught workers about the importance of general cleanliness, disposing garbage and all the reason that cause rodent breading. and using the latest chemicals ways to control.
