Muscat Municipality implements workshop on (Value Engineering) to rehabilitate the city (Muttrah)
Yesterday morning, Hotel Muscat Holiday launched workshop activities for the technical evaluation of advisory services project to design infrastructure and rehabilitate Muttrah city in the field of (Value Engineering) to apply the best engineering solutions of the projects, set priorities and alternatives by using innovative approach with lower cost and higher quality without prejudice to the basic requirements and all components of the project. This program lasts for two days, which many of the concerned authorities , number of foreign consultants and experts outside the Sultanate of Oman who are experts in technical and urban fields: as urban development of cities, roads and transport, structural engineering, public services, maintain the historical buildings by Muscat specialists and experts, District of water, the Supreme Council of planning, Sultan Qaboos University (SQU), Ministry of Transport and communication, Ministry of Environment and Climate Affairs, Ministry of Tourism, Ministry of Housing, Ministry of Regional Municipalities and water Resources.
Before Yesterday, the numbers of evaluation team made a field visit up close to the main features of Muttrah and the regions that will be covered for the development of Muttrah.
Value Engineering is technical and scientific approach to study high cost projects. the study of value engineering begin collecting and analyzing all available information of the project then discussion, analysis and classification for all components functions of the project, estimating costs realistically, showing high or unnecessary costs, and then determine the priorities of the project and the available scientific alternatives. Finally, the members of the evaluation team plan to apply the approved proposals.
Muscat Municipality seeks to provide an integrated plan to develop the city. The project aims to raise the provided services level for the population without affecting its historical and cultural features, the rehabilitation of Muttrah to be the tourism gate of Sultanate of Oman in order to contribute raising the economic standard for all the country.
