Muscat Municipality participates in the Global Design Forum of cities in Turkey
Muscat Municipality participated in the third Global Design Forum of cities which is held in Ankara, the capital of Turkey during the period from 7-9 of the current October part of a delegation headed by Eng/ Mohsen bin Mohammed Al-Sheikh, Chairman of Muscat Municipality, he is accompanied by Eng/ Abdullah bin Mohamed Al-Saedy, the General Director of the Municipality and the supervisor of roads, Dr/ Abdul-Hakim bin Ahmed Alfarsi, the Director of Management Studies department and Mr./ Ali bin Nasser Al-Kharousi, the Office Manager of Muscat Municipality Chairman.
This assembly aimed to enhance the cooperation between the member cities in the global development of urban design field. This forum is an important platform for sharing information and experiences exchanges for building available urban environment, it discusses the relevant topics to reach common solutions that face the urban development through the urban design, achieving prosperity, understanding the cultural diversity and enrich the citizen`s lives, taking into account the sustainable growth. The final statement of the assembly reached to a number of solutions and initiatives to be adopted by the member cities in order to contribute the design of urban development in touristic, cultural, social and economic fields.
The most prominent solutions are improving the urban designs, developing the urban infrastructure, improving the public transport system, raising the level quality of life for the urban citizens, protecting the identity and culture of the city and maintain the historical heritage for each city. The statement confirmed the importance for building and developing the global cities by attracting capital and investors, adopting short and long term strategic plans, enhancing the cooperation with private sector to design sustainable urban development, taking into account the social, cultural, environmental and economic endearments and applying the governance principles in the urban tourism development.
On the sidelines of the assembly Eng/ the Chairman of Muscat Municipality met Mr. / Malik Gokcek, the Mayor of Ankara to discuss the cooperation between the two sides in the various fields. Also, the delegation visited a number of service and projects facilities which are supervised by Ankara Municipality, where the visit included Dikmen Valley Park, the project of Ankara Park Garden, the community center, Olas Mall, the urban rehabilitation project in the north of Ankara.
Also, the delegation visited a number of Departments in Anakar Municipality such as Police Department, Development and Planning Department of the city and Environmental Protection Department; they listened to a detailed explanation about the tasks, specialties and the working methods which are concerned in theses Departments.
