The distribution of 500 trash conditions in Muttrah
Muscat Municipality completes the direct transfer application in the residential neighborhoods
The Directorate general of Muscat Municipality which presented in public cleansing, awareness and guidance departments undertakes the distribution of 200 new trash containers in Almayaben, Alshemal, Alwadi- Alkabeer areas after finishing the distribution of 300 containers in Ent, Darseet, Alnadi areas in Muscat, Alryan in Muttrah district and Altoyan in Muscat Municipality. The next phase includes the system application in the Eastern regions of neighborhoods in the two states as part of the completion of Muscat plan to apply the direct transfer system for the residential neighborhoods in the province which is launched in the year 2013.
The number of the distribution containers reach to 4500 containers until the end of last year, the work is continuing to distribute 2500 containers in the current year. The future plan will apply the system to all regions of Muscat Municipality gradually. The direct transfer system aims to maintain the aesthetic and civilization appearance of the city by removing all distorted causes and the accumulated wastes that cause the insects and bad smells.
The system is based on the transfer of wastes from homes directly to the waste collection vehicles, and then discarded in dedicated landfill. The specialists of the cleansing and awareness departments provide detailed explanation to the homeowners about this system, its objectives and the specific times to remove the containers before midnight every day to reduce the stay period of the container in order to maintain the place clean and free of insects and rodents.
The Municipality allocated Monday and Wednesday of each week to transfer the other solid wastes which include ( appliances and furniture residues, tree trunks, boxes and others), these sold wastes are removed from homes before the specific times by one day in dedicated places in an orderly manner to be easy removed by the municipality vehicles.
