Public affairs of Muscat Municipality addresses the importance of setting controls for the industrial expansion in Misfah and regulating taxis as an interesting request

The committee of public affairs in Municipal Council for Muscat Governorate discussed the resident`s complaint in Misfah, Bowshar state about industrial crawling on the housing scheme at its fourth meeting chaired by Malik bin Hilal Al-Yahmadi. This matter won widely interesting because of its implications and different effects, The Committee hosted Eng. Mubarak bin Khamis Al Balushi, Director of planning and Survey Ministry of housing to clarify a number of issues relating to the project of housing units for citizens who have their homes or properties next to the factories. He confirmed that 98 housing units out of 152 in its final phase, and the rest will be completed in the next phase. Also he reviewed the controls to compensate the land owners in that area. It is indicated that the Committee of municipal Affairs in Bowshar state had made an inspection visit to check the region situation in coordination with the Ministry of housing.

The Committee also reviewed the residents` complaint Al-Areen region in Muttrah state about the parking of vehicles in front of their homes as a result of its location in the downtown and its active commercial movement most of the time. Al-Areen region suffers the lack of parking as the rest of Muttrah lanes. As one of the solutions, new parking will be reopened in the building of Al-shageya market. The representatives of Muscat Municipality participated in the meeting indicated that the building will be re-evaluated by a specialist consultant to assess its efficiency to be subtracted in investment or reconstructed. As well as the redevelopment of Muttrah provides sites to multi-storey buildings in the future.
The Committee concluded its meeting presented the proposal of waiting rooms in the taxi parking and unified model application for those rooms on the level of the governorate of Muscat with the participation of specialists from the Ministry of Transport and Communications and Muscat Municipality. The Committee discussed the possibility of exploiting those rooms for the comfort of both drivers and passengers, as one of the basic requirements in the public transport system. Also the committee stressed that the organizing of taxis vehicles is an essential requirements, so Eng. Salim bin Saed al-Amiri, Assistant Director at the Ministry of transport and communications confirmed that the regulation of road transport organizations took into account all organizational dimensions for taxis vehicles in Muscat Governorate, and will see the light soon.
