Muscat Municipality in As`Seeb Closes a Number of Restaurants and Shops
As part of Muscat Municipality`s keenness to monitor food, inspect restaurants and shops, and maintain consumer health and safety, the Directorate-General of Muscat Municipality in As`Seeb conducted a surprise inspection campaign on a number of food facilities and commercial activities related to public health. The campaign has resulted in a closure of a restaurant in Al-Khaoud due to irregularities related to health procedures and conducting a commercial activity without a local license. Furthermore, A number of shops and restaurants in Al-Mabayla Industrial Area were closed as a result of conducting commercial activity without a local license and for displaying products outside the permitted scope, in addition to not renewing municipal licenses. All this violates the local order no. (1/2006) on the protection of public health.
In order to improve the health level of restaurants and to raise the quality of services provided to the consumer, the Municipality continues to carry out regular and intensive field visits to commercial activities related to public health in order to monitor the commitment of shops and restaurants to health requirements in accordance with the regulations and laws governing this aspect .
The Municipality leans in charging fines to the commercial activities related to public health and non-compliance with health and safety requirements to the administrative decision No. (2017/55) which is related to the administrative penalties on violations of municipal law by practicing an activity without a municipal license, not renewing municipal Licenses , workers irregularities, and shop violations ( Commercial, professional Industrial, recreational, and health ) with its facilities, and irregularities which harms the environment .
Muscat Municipality calls on all consumers to be partners in controlling unhealthy food practices and not to hesitate reporting any food or health violations that may harm their health or safety by calling the Muscat Municipality Call Center on toll free number (1111) or communicating through the Etisalat Muscat portal on social media .
