Muscat Municipality organizes a diabetes campaign for its employees in the Diabetes World Day
In conjunction with the World Diabetes Day, Muscat Municipality, represented by the General Directorate of Human Resources and in cooperation with the General Directorate of Health Services in Muscat Governorate, organized an awareness campaign on diabetes at Muscat Municipality headquarter in Darsit. The campaign aims at rasing awareness among employees about diabetes, and to encourage them about the early detection of this disease.
The campaign has included a number of paragraphs, and some educational activities. It has covered various aspects including the corner of blood analysis, blood glucose measurement and a cumulative body examination as a measure of weight and fat in the body, in addition to measuring the proportion of water in the body by specialists from Al-Wadi Al-Kabir health Center.
Furthermore, the specialists in the medical consultation and health education provided awareness paragraphs to identify the symptoms and complications of diabetes and how to prevent it as well as what actions to follow to prevent it.
Specialists have emphasized the importance of healthy food and the increase of proteins rich food in the diet. They also urged people to avoid foods containing carbohydrates, Fat and sugars. They also strongly recommended to exercise daily, and to clarify the foods and medications that are suitable for diabetics.
Mariam Mohammed Al-Arimi, Director of Personnel Care at Muscat Municipality, said; Muscat Municipality aims to educate both its diabetes and non-infected employees and about the need for an early detection of the disease. Laila Khamis Al-Rasadia, a nurse at Al-Wadi Al Kabir Health Center, said: " The diabetes campaign aims at rising awareness of the community to prevent diabetes and reduce its spread, noting that diabetes is a common disease and is associated with eye problems, dental problems, heart and kidney disease, Arteries and foot diseases, so it`s good to make an early diagnosis of diabetes and keep exercise and get rid of excess weight . "
Worth to mention that the campaign was held in cooperation with Al Wadi Al Kabeer Health Center, Al Waleed Pharmacy, Gulf Specialized Hospital and Specialized Treasure. The Municipality of Muscat is keen to raise the awareness and prevention of health among its employees by encouraging them to follow a healthy lifestyle.
