Muscat Municipality has intensified its efforts to prepare for the weather condition in the Sultanate in a number of areas. The municipality`s efforts were to deal with rainwater pools and the congestion in the drainage channels. The General directorates of Muscat municipality, represented by the public hygiene departments of the health services, have intensified their efforts in following the expectation of rainfall through the preparation of a work schedule to follow-up climate variability.

 As well as full readiness by preparing some heavy equipment with water-suction pumps. The technical and field teams also started their immediate work after the rains in terms of the suction of rainwater pools on main streets, sub-streets and residential neighbourhoods of Muscat Governorate, in addition to the suction of rainwater pools near the lighting poles and electrical wires in order to avoid any electrical contact.

The municipality has been also watching the condition carefully to ensure that traffic is flowing smoothly. It also calls citizens & residents to take precautions and not to get close to water gatherings near the lighting poles or tampering with electrical wires and not to approach deep excavations near ongoing projects during the rainfall, and observance of public safety requirements, and to report any observations by contacting the toll-free number of the Muscat Communications Centre (1111), or the pages of Muscat municipality accounts on social media sites to deal with all emergencies if they occur.
