In cooperation with the State Audit Institution Muscat Municipality organizes a workshop on partnership in the application of Good Governance

Muscat municipality, in cooperation with the State financial and administrative Audit Institution, organized on Sunday a workshop on partnership in the implementation of good governance, and integrity in the great Sultan Qaboos Mosque hall, as part of the ongoing cooperation between the two sides to implement training programmes and workshops, with the aim of exchanging experiences and developing staff skills in different areas of work.

The three-day workshop aimed to familiarize participants with the concept, ways and methods of applying good governance and its relevance, and to learn how to apply them in the areas of work to determine the impact of their application in government units and society. Mr. Shabib bin Nasser Al Busaidi Director of the Legal Affairs Department of the State Audit and Dr. Qusai Al Falahi, legal expert in Muscat municipality, have participated in  research papers. The workshop has included a number of the axes;  the impact of enhanced integrity in the delivery of public services, ways to strengthen institutional capacities and achieve efficient management of resources , as well as other points of view, on the identification of forms of violations, crimes against the public right and funds, and methods of policy reform, reorganization and streamlining of administrative procedures and, finally, enhanced opportunity for public-private partnerships and strengthening the role of community organizations Civilians.

Dr. Qusai Al Falahi spoke about the importance of this workshop, noting that it was intended to converge with the practical experiences of decision makers from the participants who contribute to policymaking in the municipality, and stated that "building with a renewed vision in a modern State requires consistency With global features and developments, and possessing the capabilities to contribute to civilized human progress, he added that one of the most important features of modern development is the application of so-called of good governance, integrity and transparency in administrative work, which has been seen as a mere manifestation of evolution, to the extent that it has become a societal need; Good governance is based on the embodiment of the key dimensions of public administration functions, aimed at building the state of institutions through the operationalization, application and reconstruction of the principles integrity in the exercise of public administration as a whole, and added that international efforts had been made over the past decade in the Arab region to support Good governance practices were the launching by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), through the programme of governance in the Arab States, of an initiative (good governance for the development of the Arab States (in partnership with ECO and OECD and in cooperation with a number of Arab organizations and international The initiative has focused on three main areas of reform: administration, finance, and judiciary based on the six pillars of integrity in the management of public finances, government and simplification of administrative procedures, administrative restructuring, strengthening public-private partnerships In providing public services to the public, the role of the judiciary in the enforcement of sentences and finally the correctional role of citizens and civil society.

It is noteworthy that this workshop targeted a number of staff at senior management levels in Muscat municipality who contribute to policymaking and decision-making; with the aim of unifying the vision of partnership in the application of good governance in various areas of administrative work and harmonizing its procedures in view of the challenges in different sectors.
