Muscat Municipality in As`Seeb takes legal actions against expatriate workers who violate municipal laws

         The General Directorate of Muscat Municipality, represented by the Urban Inspection department and the legal follow-up department, and in coordination with the public prosecution and the Royal Oman Police raided and seized some expatriate workers doing illegal practices contrary to ordinances and regulations in force.

          A residence exploited to host (bachelors) was raided in the residential neighborhoods in the South Al-Muwalih in Wilayah of As’Seeb. Which is contrary to article 31 of the Ordinance. 92/23 on the regulation of buildings, which provides that workers shall not be allowed to reside in residential areas. The article indicates that no complexes or buildings are allowed for housing workers or singles in residential or commercial residential areas. Even no architectural design indicating this will be accepted, as well as not allowing a building that combines between family and single housing, and that accommodation can be allowed for workers in different industrial zones only within reasonable limits by type of industry.

          However, the General Directorate in cooperation with the Royal Oman Police seized expatriate worker for  engaging in various commercial activities without commercial permits and in poor conditions.  The building was used to prepare foods in commercial quantities, for sale in restaurants and food stores, as well as for laundry and ironing activity in apartment buildings.

     The directorate has taken the necessary legal measures against the seized employment and the owners of the building. . The municipality calls on citizens and residents of Muscat to report any observations by contacting the communications center of Muscat Municipality on (1111) or through the municipality accounts on social media.
