Muscat Municipality participates in the first Conference for civil and Architectural Engineering
• Enriching discussions in the design of intelligent buildings and the possibilities of making a sustainable culture in Oman.

Muscat Municipality participated in the first civil and architectural engineering conference, at Sultan Qaboos University, which was held during the period from 26 to 28 March, under the patronage of His Excellency Engineer Mohsin bin Mohammed Ash’Sheikh, chairman of Muscat municipality, with the participation of a number of local and international academics and specialized professionals from associations and institutions.
Dr. Hanan bint Amer Al Jabriya, assistant director of the Strategic Planning Department of Muscat municipality, presented a research paper on the local architecture in Oman: Lessons of the past to promote the future), discussing the concept of local architecture in the first Islamic period, the effect of religious, social, environmental and economic factors which affect the design of residential units.
Dr. Hanan who was the official representative of Muscat municipality in the conference run a discussion session on intelligent building design, which deals with four working papers on innovations in earthy and the potential of building a sustainable culture in Oman, beside the integration of the outer-walls system in the structure of hot climates.
She has covered three aspects that affect urban planning; environmental, the social and the economic aspect, all of which are intertwined in their impact on society. The new planned cities should make a balance in the built environment and the residential neighborhoods and ensure that all people have an easy access to basic services like water and electricity, transportation and public places such as parks and parks.
