Muscat municipality organizes a training programme on "preparation of bill of quantities for construction projects and cost calculation"

The department of Human Resources Development of Muscat municipality organized a training programme on "preparation of bill of quantities for construction projects and cost calculation 6-10 of May at the municipality building in Ruwi. The programme is aimed at training engineers and technicians working at the General Directorate for technical Affairs and the Directorate-General of quantity surveying with with the skills needed in the calculation of quantities and preparation of bills for construction projects and the calculation of the estimated cost.
Mr. Ghassan al Bahrani, assistant Manager at the General Directorate for survey of quantities, has lectured the programme covering many aspects including introducing the tasks of a surveyor and in identifying modern and old bill of quantities. The programme has also covered the methods of preparation of bills of quantities for construction projects and, in part, to calculate the amount of concrete floor and the excavation and backfill.
Participants have been also informed of the procedures and steps that should be followed when an engineer gives instructions especially when paying the financial dues to companies (Payment certificates), as well as the methods of calculating the quantities of cosmetic works.
