Muscat municipality Announces: “The central market of vegetables and fruits is ready for the holy month of Ramadhan
- Around (307) trucks carry more than (6140) tons of vegetables and fruits.
- Extending work hours in the wholesale and retail stores.
- Intensifying inspection campaigns to the shops and stores.

The central market of vegetables and fruits announces today that it is ready to receive the holy month of Ramadan. The market has provided different varieties of fruits and vegetables, and it intensifies its technical and health control over the stores and food establishments in the market.
The administration of the central market has urged traders ensure a direct import of fruits and vegetables from the original countries like: Jordan, Lebanon, Iran, Yemen, South Africa, Egypt, the Philippines and Europe. The companies began early to increase the number of shipments to the market to meet the needs of local consumers in the holy month.
Other government agencies operating in the central market like the Royal Oman Police especially in the customs administration as well as the Ministry of agriculture and fisheries to deal with the growing number of trucks coming to market smoothly and quickly.
Intensive control
As the municipality is keen to provide appropriate health environment for handling vegetables and fruits, it has destroyed about (91.896) tons of vegetables and fruits from 1/4/2018 to 7/5/2018. Another inspection team was also formed to carry out the inspection campaigns throughout all working hours in the market.
Continuous development
The market administration works regularly to conduct regular maintenance of the market’s facilities with continued coordination with companies operating in the market.
It has recently completed developing a new entrance and exit to and added more parking lots at the entrance. It has also added a two gateway in front of the market.
