Muscat Municipality implements an awareness programme called “Awareness Break” in the morning assembly of al Ithraa` basic school.

With a view to build a generation that is aware of environmental issues, the community partnership department of Muscat Municipality implemented today (Monday) an awareness programme in the morning assembly of al Ithraa` basic school (1-4) in a`Seeb. This prgramme is part of the awarness package programms that are being implemented by the community partnership department of Muscat Municipality and is carried out in partnership with the Directorate General of education in the governorate of Muscat. Such programms aim at conveying the message of municipal work for all school students and to promote a culture of environmental awareness among them.
The idea of the awareness break programme is to conduct a direct meeting in the morning assembly of the school presented by Mrs. Zakiyya al-Mughairi a social researcher in the Department of community partnership in Muscat municipality. Students had the chance to talk in an open dialogue about famous phenomenon in the governorate like tampering with public properties.
Zakiyya said that this program has been planned in advance carefully and was implemented based on the results of the field questionnaire on negative phenomena conducted previously in Muscat. Through the questionnaire, It was found that tampering with public properties was the famous negative phenomena in Muscat Governorate, and therefore the campaign was planned to target such phenomena among school students. All in all Muscat Municipality will continue its awareness programmes until the end of December hoping to deliver its message properly.
