With 32 teams participating, Muscat Municipality takes the draw of the Cricket Tournament

Muscat Municipality, represented by the Directorate General of Human Resources and the Sport Committee, hold a meeting today (Monday) to take the draw for the Muscat Municipality Cricket Championship 2018. The tournament will be held from (2-30 November) in collaboration with the Oman Cricket Club and sponsored by Khimji Ramdas plus other institutions of the private sector.

A number of 32 teams have participated in the draw, including (10)from Muscat Municipality, and (6) are Omani civil teams, and other (16) non-Omani. The teams have been divided into two groups 8 teams for each. Throughout the draw, Omani teams will be solely in the first group to ensure better opportunities to qualify for the finals.

 The group will include teams of; the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Grand Mutrah, the central market for vegetables and fruit, the Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Bousher, al Hail Cricket Team for the Directorate-General of Transport, Municipality facilities team, the Directorate General of landscaping  and parks, al Mubeillah cricket team of the Directorate General for the Technical Affairs, Directorate General of Muscat Municipality in Al Amriat, and Bousher Cricket Club.

The other eight teams in the second set include the non-Omani players, (Muscat Steel*UCF , Smile strikers* Ruwi Samashers, AKCT Muscat*Raheel club, Royal challengers* Sumail Cricket, Asfandyar X1*United Cricketers, United Mangalore Fighters*KXI, Titans(KFC)*Michael XI, National Plastic company*HCC Team).

Muscat Municipality aims through this tournament to encourage player to care for the physical activity and to upgrade the sport level among staff, as well as take advantage of the sport skills acquired by participants. This tournament will be held on Fridays at the al Qurm Natural Park from 7 AM to 5 pm, starting from the third of coming November, and lasting for four weeks.
