Muscat Municipality raids a house in al Mumtaz area storing honey in unsanitary conditions

Muscat Municipality raided a house in Ruwi area in al Mumtaz utilised to store and manufacture honey without a license and in unhealthy conditions. The raid which was carried out by the Inspection and legal departments and in cooperation of the Royal Oman police has seized (89) jars of honey, each weighing (30) kg, and (134) bottle of honey and a machine.
Muscat Municipality confirms that such practices are illegal as they threaten the health of citizens and residents. It also emphasises the continuity of such campaigns to monitor all activities relating to public health; to prevent the recurrence of such commercial activities threatening the public health.
The local order no. (1/2006 ) on the protection of public health in Article (2) stipulates that the municipality has the right to close food establishments directly, if proven practiced without a license, and doing any cheating in food, or presence of insects or rodents or any leakage in sewer or the occurrence of cases of mass poisoning or epidemic diseases are the result of food and beverage circulating in the shop.
The Municipality also calls on the community to contact the communications center of Muscat Municipality (1111) or through the media accounts of the Municipality on social networking sites or communicate with the directorates of Muscat Municipality for any similar observations.
