Muscat Municipality raids a house in Mutrah practicing unauthorised activity & in unhealthy condition

Municipality raided a house in Mutrah souk utilized to prepare foodstuff in unhealthy conditions and without obtaining a municipal permit.
The raid was carried out by the urban inspection department of Muscat Municipality in Grand Mutrah in cooperation with the public prosecution and the Royal Oman Police. The team has been able to confiscate large amount of cooking materials and some foodstuff that was about to be distributed to restaurants and cafes in Mutrah area.
Muscat Municipality emphasizes that such activities are illegal as they are capable of imposing a serious health threat to citizens and residents. Local order no. (1/2006 ) on the protection of public health in article (2) stipulates that the Municipality has the right to close food establishments directly if found practicing unlicensed commercial activity or preparing foodstuff in unhealthy conditions.
